The ancient Olympic Games emerged as the longest and most consistent work of culture (286 Olympiads, 1145 years without interruption!). The author, sometimes impersonating one and sometimes the other sports correspondent, sends fifty reports from Olympia with mainly the results of the games and the most exciting details about people and circumstances.
Virtual reality is not an exclusive privilege of electronic computers, but also of the human mind. This method, however, firmly grounded in historical reality, as evidenced by ancient texts and representations on vases and other remnants of the material and intellectual life of our ancient Greek ancestors, was followed by the author in the Reports from ancient Olympia, included in this book. This was perhaps the best way to participate in the "Athens 2004" Olympics, which, due to objective circumstances, is far from its ancient prototype.
