Many believe that we are in the era of the end of television. Others, on the other hand, believe that we are at the beginning of a new golden age. What is certain is that in the digital age, the question of what television is and what it was is urgently raised. The works hosted in this volume were presented at the Conference held at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for the 50 years of Greek television and examine from various perspectives the means of communication that constituted the dominant source of information and entertainment in modern Greece, affecting all areas of political, social and cultural life. Through the critical assessment of this half-century of Greek television and the analytical-critical approach to specific aspects of our television experience, they attempt to deal with the significance of Greek television as an organic part of our daily life and culture, our collective history, and our audiovisual heritage.
