Description

A pocket camera with full zoom range

The high-quality 24 - 200 mm optical elements of the camera guarantee excellent image quality. Combined with high speed and pocket portability, it is ideal for travel or versatile professional tasks, even for the most demanding users. Additionally, the clear image zoom allows you to further digitally enlarge the center of the image up to twice (equivalent to 400 mm), with almost no image degradation.

Large apertures, wide range of expression

The small F numbers throughout the zoom range facilitate high shutter speed and a high background defocus rate (bokeh). Even at a focal length of 100 mm, the maximum aperture remains at F4. This can reduce blur when the subject is moving quickly and improve portraits, with the subject standing out against a strongly defocused background.

Optical SteadyShot

Advancements in image stabilization technology provide a shutter speed equivalent to 4 steps at 200 mm, compensating for camera shake during handheld shooting, even in telephoto shots or low-light conditions. The highly advanced design of the optical elements and the advanced image processing system contribute to the camera's exceptional image quality.

1.0-type Stacked CMOS Exmor RS Image Sensor for Speed

The 315-point focal-plane phase-detection AF ensures exceptional accuracy in autofocus and tracking. Additionally, the 1.0-type stacked CMOS image sensor with 20.1 MP (effective) and DRAM chip allows for super slow-motion shooting at up to 960 fps and the use of an anti-distortion shutter at extremely high speeds of up to 1/32,000 seconds.

Steady tracking with wide and dense autofocus

The 315 phase-detection AF points of the RX100 VI cover approximately 65% of the image area, providing coverage that quickly captures even small or fast-moving subjects. This works in conjunction with high-density AF tracking technology, densely concentrating AF points around the subject to significantly enhance the tracking performance of moving subjects.

Fast Hybrid Autofocus for Movies

The fast hybrid autofocus also provides precise tracking when shooting 4K movies. Phase-detection autofocus is effective over the same wide area as with still images, for smoother focusing. The autofocus drive speed and tracking sensitivity are also adjustable, so that focus transitions can be tuned according to the scene and your creativity.

Supports HDR movie production needs

The RX100 VI supports many HDR movie production needs, with S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma curves for color grading in post-production and a new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) profile for instant HDR workflow. Movie playback can be done on an HDR (HLG) compatible TV, without requiring grading to display vivid color, without shadow underexposure or highlight overexposure.

XGA OLED Tru-Finder Viewfinder

The retractable Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder features extremely high resolution (equivalent to 2.35 million dots), automatic brightness adjustment, and high contrast, providing ideal conditions for previewing your shots and appropriately adjusting your settings. The eyepiece lens of the electronic viewfinder is coated with ZEISS® T* coating, which reduces unwanted reflections and ensures optimal visibility across the entire frame.

"Imaging Edge" software suite by Sony

The "Imaging Edge" software suite can maximize image quality, efficiently enhance production, and help you accurately edit RAW format images. Use the "Remote" option to control shooting remotely while monitoring scenes in live view from a computer, the "Edit" option to create high-quality photos from RAW data, and the "Viewer" option to view, evaluate, and select photos from a list of shots.

I have the M6, for 4 years now, and before that I had the M2.

It is excellent for photos and has a very nice zoom.

Except for the cramped controls, it is a complete camera. You can take it everywhere and always!

It takes good videos, but as mentioned, it does not have image stabilization and in 4K it only goes up to 5 minutes. And the recording quality is lacking, especially in open spaces.

For me, the M6 is not worth it today. The M7 is the only option, otherwise you go for APS-C cameras that many have video stabilization and larger form factors.

M6 and M7 have micro USB. In 2024, due to legislation, either there will be an update for the M7, or the series will be discontinued permanently.

I hope the updated M7 comes out, because there is no other compact camera with full capabilities, good focus, and a large integrated zoom.

    Verified purchase

It is truly an excellent camera that is designed for every framing scenario, as the zoom lens takes you from wide-angle (24mm) to a very large zoom of 200mm. It is small, lightweight, and fast. The lens is Zeiss, which means it is one of the best glasses in the world.

It is suitable for professionals as well as amateurs.

However, I have to point out some negatives. Firstly, there is no port for a microphone, making it difficult to capture good sound. Secondly, the battery is terrible if someone is shooting videos... you will simply need some extra batteries to solve the problem. Thirdly, you can only shoot 5 minutes of 4K video. Finally, the video is not stable. It is good to have a tripod or a stick to support it while shooting videos.

As you can understand, the negatives of this amazing camera only concern the video. In terms of photography, it is outstanding. And in terms of video resolution, it is amazing if you exclude the problems I mentioned earlier, which do not concern the resolution but other factors for film production.

With this money, you cannot find something equivalent in the market. For what it offers, it is cheap.

I would recommend it for someone who wants to have a camera for travels and generally for any scenario of use! GO FOR IT

Having many machines in my possession, and having changed just as many - among others, previous RX models - the conclusion is that the best machine is the one you always have with you. The m6 is indeed a bit expensive for a compact, but it is not in the compact category. It is a pocket DSLR, which, if you exclude the limitation in depth of field (which is not bad but cannot be compared to a full-frame crop bright lens) and night shots (which are not bad either), it does not lag behind a good last-generation DSLR-mirrorless with 2 lenses. With 24-200 and unreal focusing-burst speeds and overall functionality, you have a Swiss army knife in your pocket. Taking into account all the parameters in the end, it may not be so expensive after all.

The Sony RX100 VI is a high-tech compact camera aimed at professionals, enthusiastic photographers, and vloggers. Having a Nikon DSLR with Full Frame lenses as the main camera, the Sony can, under certain conditions, replace a DSLR. As for the balance between portability and photo quality, and if one is looking for a pocket-sized camera that can be used for vacations and even demanding videography, the RX100 VI is the best option.

Only because of the price, it is not worth someone to give so much money.
