3.5 years after purchasing and installing it on my computer, I have no issues at all. It continues to be quiet and has not presented any problems. I am expecting a new system that is more demanding and maybe I will update my review! It was worth the money and it has served me well.
I have been running it on my system (ryzen 7 1700 oc>x1080) for 5 and a half years. Recently, in the last few months, the PC would simply shut down while I was playing games. It wouldn't display any error messages when I turned it back on. I tried using a different power supply and it stopped shutting down. And imagine, my system was pulling 500w at full load
Well. . I won't judge the product, as Corsair power supplies are quite well-known. . I will talk about my experience. .
I had it in a pc with a gigabyte 3060
The whole pc under gpu stress and cpu stress at the same time, while also copying from hdd to hdd with 2 pumps, 4 120mm fans + 3 gpu fans running at full speed. .+ Some few rgb lights
I had a 610-watt power supply. .
In 2K gaming with this system, I was close to 370-400 watts. . You can't say I was pushing it to its limits with 400 watts. .
Everything was fine and dandy. . until after about 8 months, the pc shut down while I was playing. . Just like that. .
I turn it on. . play. . after half an hour, it shuts down again. .
I stress it and it shuts down in two minutes. .
In the end, I took it to the store where I bought it and it was found that it had failed. . Unknown why. . In 8 months. . With moderate use. .
Finally, after I had bought it from the store where I had the option to get a refund and choose something else. . I ended up getting something better and went BACK to Corsair (as I believe it was a case of bad luck and not a product failure or Corsair being a bad company), but this time I went for the HX850 platinum
With the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti Gaming OC and the R7 5800x, it plays flawlessly and incredibly quietly since the fan doesn't seem to open. And all of this in a case with a total of 14 case fans and triple AIO. It's great that you get anything from Corsair as long as it's RM <"X">. For this specific one, buy the 2018 version.
I have it for at least 2 years, it plays along with a tomahawk b550, ryzen 5 5600g, and a 1660 ti. In gaming, I haven't seen the fan working yet. I thought it was broken, but I read that others have the same question. I can't imagine how good its performance is. It's definitely worth it
This one is unbeatable. As I saw somewhere in comments about the 750W. This one at 850W is exceptional. Stable, silent, with extremely easy connections and as many as you want. It's simply amazing. 5 stars!
Flawless connectivity, it doesn't lag anywhere, powers up several things effortlessly, and so far it has proven to be up to the task. I believe it will withstand the test of time because my previous Corsair lasted 4 years without any issues, I just replaced it
I have had the power supply for 4 months already. Completely satisfied with everything except for one issue that I don't know if it's my power supply's fault or if others have it too. When the PC is off and the power supply switch is on, there is a static/electrical noise (not a buzzing sound) and this worries me a little. As soon as I turn on the PC, the noise completely stops. It only happens when the PC is off, as if it continues to receive power normally while the PC is off. I tried different outlets, cables everywhere, but it's the same, so is it a power supply issue?
Anything in Corsair power supply that is before 2019 is garbage in terms of quality. I explain the reasons, John Gerow (JohnGuru), anyone who doesn't know him is a legend in power supplies and he had humiliated Corsair for its tragic quality as well as its quality control. In 2019, Corsair hired him as the head of the PCU engineering department and reformed the entire power supply division.
The RMx series from Corsair is, in my opinion, a great value for its category. It powers: Asus Z490f, i9 10850k, 2x Gskill 8gb (16gb modules), RTX 3080, 1 nvme, 1 ssd, 2x 4tb HDD, NZXT x63 liquid cooling, 5 fans, RGB, etc. without any issues for about a year now. The cables may be a bit difficult during the build, as they have connectors at tight spots for smoothing out the power. In about 5 years, I will purchase the same or a similar one again.
It supports space travel... The connection is like playing with lego... I have never had an easier connectivity, the cables go in and out perfectly. Very powerful
Although the price is a bit high, we are talking about a heavy-duty power supply with all the indications of quality that whistle from the moment you open its packaging. The bag it comes with for storing extra cables is very nice and practical. It does make cable management a bit difficult due to the capacitors wrapped near the ends of the motherboard and processor power cables, but it can be overcome with a little more effort than usual. It is highly recommended if you have the budget.
I give it only 3 stars because while it is literally silent up to 299 watts and reaches 12db up to 500 watts, peaking at 22db, what disappointed me were the cables.
Specifically:
ATX: 610mm
CPU: 650mm
PCIe: 750mm
SATA: 750mm
In my midi case, it ruined all the cable management with its short and inflexible ATX cable.
Almost 2 years of usage on a system that requires around 450W at full load, absolutely no issues.
I knew I was getting something high-quality and over time, thankfully, I wasn't wrong.
If they didn't put capacitors in their cables, which results in them being almost indestructible, I would give it 50 stars if you want.
First of all, the most important things to mention about this product in my opinion are:
1) The fan only turns on if the PC requires 260W or more. My own PC with a GTX 1060 6GB OC at 2.1GHz clock/9.1 GHz memory and an i7 6700k OC at 4.4GHz has never reached that level of power consumption (measured by APC UPS software), resulting in the PSU fan never turning on - therefore, 100% noiseless in such cases.
2) 10-year warranty. You can keep it for 2+ builds and have peace of mind. Also, the fact that the company stands behind it and decided to offer such a warranty definitely says something about the build quality/durability.
Now, onto the less important things. Before this, I had a PSU from the same company - CS650m - and while it worked fine, it had a few minor issues that I have also seen in several other PSUs (usually more budget-oriented ones). Initially, there was a small power leak when the computer was shut down, causing the LED on the graphics card to not turn off completely, which was a bit annoying. Also, in the case of the computer being in Hibernation, a slight voltage change could wake up the computer (e.g. when the air conditioner turned off), and it was generally quite sensitive to voltage changes. All of these issues have been resolved with this specific PSU. The relay turns on when it should and turns off when it should. It functions as it should without any small inconveniences.
*An important bonus point is the pouch that comes with the cables. I use it for carrying external hard drives and cables, and it is convenient.
In general, though, it is an expensive power supply. If you want a very quiet system and plan to keep it for many years, it is definitely worth it, get it without hesitation. However, if you are not particularly demanding, go for something cheaper. There are many good power supplies in the €50-€60 range, even if they are Bronze-rated - realistically, considering the power consumption of today's PCs, the efficiency rating is a joke.
I preferred it over the 2021 model because it is noticeably quieter under heavy loads and, of course, it is currently 25 euros cheaper.
The power supply is completely silent and fully modular. Its quality and packaging are very good. (850W)
With a 10-year warranty, it is a safe choice!
A year ago, my father bought this specific one in the 750watt version for a threadripper 2950x and a gtx1660 super, and he exclusively uses it for programming. He hasn't had any issues with it and only has positive things to say. I decided to choose it for my own computer as well, which has an i7 10700 and no graphics card due to the lack of availability. I will update if it gives me any problems.
The power supply is completely silent, the fan has never turned on for me to know if it makes noise since it doesn't turn on below a certain usage percentage, I think 40%. Currently, I have an i7 10700 that draws a maximum of 150w but I don't have a graphics card (I have a gt 1030 but it only draws 30w) so until I get one, I won't know the fan noise, but from what I know, it is quite quiet. The power supply comes with all the necessary cables and is of high quality. It hasn't had any issues so far, I've had it for 1 week and I will update if it presents anything, although you have nothing to worry about since it is of high quality and has a 10-year warranty from Corsair.
Two things I need to mention:
- My computer has power cycled 2-3 times before turning on and one time it made a strange sound (There is a possibility that it was a fan that touched a cable but I don't know because it stopped afterwards) something inside before shutting down and power cycling, also the headphones made an annoying sound, but then everything worked fine. I don't know what causes this and I don't think it's the power supply, and it's probably normal for power cycling anyway. I just mentioned it so you know.
- The power supply smells a lot before you take it out of the box. It is known that out of all the RMx models, the 850w one smells. This is completely normal and goes away after 2-3 days. It's because all the plastics and metals are new. Just so you know, don't be surprised.
It is quiet and comes with a 10-year warranty! I installed it in an NZXT H510i Black case and had no difficulty. It has plenty of cables for whatever you may need.
It comes in a beautiful package with a bag for extra cables, which I found very useful (usually when I make a change after a while, I always lose the cables).
It is a fairly high-quality machine compared to cheaper series. The larger fan compared to the previous generation is definitely a plus as it has reduced the noise compared to my old corsair. For reliability, I naturally expect to decide after a reasonably long period of time. However, I don't think I will have any negative surprises. For a good solution, but not the top one, choose it.
Excellent Power Supply, I have had it for about 7 months, it replaced a non-branded Chinese one that was as loud as hell.
This one is quiet, only audible under heavy load (when the fans kick in).
It is fully modular with excellent I/O.
The only "drawback" is the stiff power cables that will make cable management difficult.
Awesome power supply but the only downside I noticed was the noise and the fact that it's a bit difficult in cable management. But still, I would choose it again.
He gave up after 4 years, maybe it's an unfortunate event but I have to mention it.
He never had an issue, just one day the computer never turned on after it was making sounds like it was screeching the previous day.
It had a 10-year warranty but no store takes responsibility after the first 2 or 3 years to contact Corsair.
I will come back with a review about the company's handling so you know what's going on with the warranty.
EDIT: It was replaced with a refurbished model, after several emails (around 12 email replies), while the remaining warranty is still in effect. The process took 25+ days.
EDIT: The refurbished one turned out to be faulty as I gave it to a friend and it broke after 6 months. He followed the same process mentioned above.
I have it here for a few months, good quality Corsair. I have Corsair headphones, RAM memory, and a power supply, and I just have to say that the brand has made amazing products. I am completely satisfied with all my Corsair brand purchases. It is completely silent during normal use and several hours of gaming... It gave me a little trouble with the cables, but I managed with some help... Once you connect the cables, you're good to go... I won't explain if it's worth buying because it's clear due to the reviews first and foremost... Of course, it's definitely worth buying, although it's a bit expensive, it's amazing
Simply quality. The only downside of this power supply is the slightly rigid cables at their ends, but it's a minor issue. As for the noise, let's be realistic. For the fan to work at maximum speed means that your system is already at full load and you can hear the CPU and GPU coolers running at full speed, so there's no chance it will bother you more than those. In simple operation, it is 100% silent.
Abundance of cables, easy connections. Only the 24pin cable is a bit inflexible due to its size, but it still gets the job done. The reviews justify it! And with a 12-year warranty, it will last for a long time!
Purchase the 750w version on 11/15/2020! The system it was installed in requires a lot of resources as it powers an rtx 2070 super gaming z, the i7 10700k, and 32gb of ram! It is quite silent even when the Gpu is running at maximum resources! As for its cables, it covers a variety of needs as it comes with a multitude of cables in its packaging! At this price, there may be other equally good power supplies available, but availability played a role in its purchase, in addition to the good reputation of both the distributing company and the manufacturing company! Update: Once I placed it and haven't dealt with it again.. Excellent quality, just look at the cables. Exceptional choice.
I bought it from a well-known chain during the summer on sale for 119 euros. Coming from Cooler Master's full modular 80 PLUS Gold, it is clearly superior in terms of quality characteristics, completely silent, and above all, stable even with overclocking. Buy it with your eyes closed, it will more than compensate you.
