Ariadne, with an invaluable treasure in her hands, returns to Chandaka. However, the situations she faces lead her to disdain and isolation, while day by day she feels the grip of the Venetians tightening more and more.

She is now a fallen noblewoman, who in the end remains alone.
With the help of the family of a Jewish doctor, she tries to rebuild her life from scratch, but the plague of 1592 stops everything. The only way for her now is to flee.
Accompanied by the son of the doctor, Joseph, she arrives in Thessaloniki, the "New Jerusalem" as it is called. However, the Sephardic Jewish community is very closed off and Ariadne is not accepted.
Then Konstantis appears in her life, a handsome young Thracian, and things suddenly change in an unexpected way.
