Description

"Siddhartha" is one of the fundamental fictional documents of the modern era. It chronicles the journey of a man seeking to find himself and the deeper truth of life, written with an almost biblical simplicity and beauty, culminating in a passionate hymn to individuality and spiritual independence. It is no wonder that this book, free from the heavy, suffocating fumes of the age of orthodoxies and dogmas, became something like a gospel for the generations of pop and rock, for the generations of contemporary Marcusean post-Marxist questioning.
Within the few pages of "Siddhartha," young people found the faithful, revealing reflection of the world they strive to create: a world where experience and knowledge are earned and not given, where love is an apprenticeship, a cognitive adventure and not cheap sentimentality, a world, finally, where life moves towards tomorrow, without being bound by the faith and ambitions of any yesterday.
It is doubtful if there is another book in contemporary literature as revealing, as valuable for the youth of our time... for those who want to be young.

A person in search of the ultimate, the one and only truth. A truth destined to mend his inherent psychological deficit. The spiritual journey of a restless soul facing its inner demons and societal norms.. Stumbles, gets hurt but almost immaculate cuts the thread of ''termination''.. Enjoyable..

Written in 1922 and I can tell you with absolute certainty that Esse's writing style remains timeless.

    *4.5

The story of Siddhartha touched me quite a bit, and I identified with the protagonist and his choices in various ways. I liked that throughout his journey, he always remains open to the world around him and willing to learn at every opportunity. His philosophy is truly interesting as it is characterized by this receptiveness to experiences, resulting in a continuous process of experiential learning. His obsession with independence is also significant - Siddhartha always maintains a distance from others and their ideas, processing his thoughts alone, in his own way.

Hesse seems to bridge the West and the East through his protagonist, raising philosophical questions that concern all of us at certain moments in our lives, or even more frequently. His writing is not tiresome and has a poetic tone, his characters are vivid and authentic, and the ideas one can draw from the content of this story are numerous. The work highlights the value of self-determination, the search for one's true self, independence, and lifelong learning.

While the overall plot and messages of the fable may seem somewhat cliché, I do not believe they detract from its value. I think it is worth reading by everyone.
