Description

This book is a collective work in which the reality of prison is articulated with its various definitions, highlighting the richness of the views and meanings that our society historically attributed to prison. The analysis of the interaction between criminal practices and social and cultural variables, in the first texts of the volume, indicates aspects that the dialogue between scientific and other social reasons can take. Consequently, in the following thematic sections, the analysis focuses on the images of prison as they emerge through various cultural productions (theater, literature, cinema, television, press, alternative media), as well as the discourse of the prisoner himself, both criminal and political.
