I sat down and read most of the negative reviews here, purely out of curiosity.. I'm sure the majority of them will be from kids whose first experiences in the world of video games were Fortnite and "games" of similar quality.
For us who grew up with this series from the PS1 to now, I have to say that this particular RE is a milestone for the series. Yes, Capcom had not accustomed us to First person for RE, however what they created was captivating. The definition of horror, amazing landscapes, jump scares, and a story that captivates you until the end. Once again, the RE Engine is doing wonders. I give it 2 stars only for the sound... The rest of the game, in my opinion, is terrible and boring... It offers some horror elements maybe, although I didn't really feel it, but okay... Other than that, it's slow to the point of nausea for no reason... It's so scripted it's unbearable... In the first hour, you don't even understand what's happening in essence... There are items that simply exist without any purpose, just to waste your time...

Especially in the part where the guy with the pitchfork chases you, you empty two magazines on him and it's like nothing is happening, and then he finally kills you with a car that brings spikes inside a 2x2 garage. I was incredibly disappointed with how boring, fake, and pointless it is... It's like they tried to make it more action-packed and it didn't work out... I wonder about the positive reviews as well... If I'm doing something wrong and I missed the experience due to my own mistake, someone please tell me so I can reconsider, but I truly feel like I wasted 4 hours in the trash...

However, I didn't have the opportunity to play it back then, and when 2018 came, an announcement for the Resident Evil 2 remake was made, which if Resident Evil 7 had impressed me, this one surprised me even more. Now that I had a next-generation console in my hands, I decided to get involved with RE 2. As a remake and as my first survival horror experience, it was something that I loved, and it was the reason for me to get involved with the entire series from the beginning. After playing Re 1 remake, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Code Veronica & Resident Evil 4 (except for the RE 3 remake, which didn't excite me), I decided to skip 5 & 6, which I consider don't have much more to offer. So, I went straight to my very favorite Resident Evil 7, which I had left on my "to play list" for almost 5 years. Starting the game with its very strong introduction, it gradually unfolded in a nice way, like a traditional Resident Evil. With item boxes, saves, interconnected areas, and several influences from Resident Evil 1, combined with fresh ideas of a new era, it managed to deliver a genuine survival horror experience. The only downside, of course, is that veterans won't struggle much during their first playthrough, but some parts will seem quite challenging and interesting to them. In the end, it's a big plus for me that I left the whole series to unfold from the beginning, in order to understand what Resident Evil is first, so that I can appreciate 7 even more. In the end, my hype in 2017 didn't go to waste. I saw the end credits and said, "yes, the game deserved it and more," and congratulations to CAPCOM for making me a fan with its recent releases regarding this series. For me, Resident Evil 7 is one of the top 3 Resident Evil games, along with the Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 1 remake, ultimately stealing the first and second place, respectively. So, third and audacious, RESIDENT EVIL 7: BIOHAZARD.

It has an excellent story that is worth diving into and exploring its details, with interesting characters and minimal pacing issues. Thanks to the provided DLC, it feels almost complete (especially regarding the Bakers and Ethan). The game is also a perfect example of a horror game, focusing more on horror than action. It looks beautiful even on the PS4, and the gameplay is also very enjoyable with plenty of weapons to try, a demanding Madhouse mode, and various collectibles. Unfortunately, it has few puzzles that make you think more than act with a weapon (at least in the main game, as the DLCs have such content). Regardless of the price, the game is worth it, but it is better to go for the gold edition because without it, the DLCs will cost much more.

Resident Evil 7 gives a completely different feeling to the entire Franchise. This is achieved by switching from Third Person to First Person Perspective. This fact makes the whole experience much more terrifying.
The story also contributes to creating the chilling atmosphere of the game, which is well-written and keeps you in suspense.
Graphics, direction, and characters are flawless.
The gameplay could use some improvements, but it is decent.
I recommend it to all fans of horror and Resident Evil.

The second game I got for VR and really, without having played any Resident Evil before in general, it was perhaps the most terrifying experience of my life (in a good way). I reached a point where I took off the glasses and continued on the screen because I couldn't take it anymore hahaha. The sound is amazing, you feel the protagonist's fear, every time I heard footsteps or the intensity decreased! The graphics were pretty good, to be honest, at times I felt like I didn't understand anything (maybe because I generally had no experience with Resident Evil). The gameplay was enjoyable, easy, and nerve-wracking. Despite everything I went through to finish it and leaving aside the nightmares, it's definitely worth the money. Especially if you have VR, it is a must-have in your collection. So from me, good luck and good scares!

Terror and Nostalgia. If I had to describe my feelings about this game in two words, these would probably be the most representative ones. But let's start from the beginning. For several years, I avoided buying Biohazard because of its shift to first person. Let me just say that as a fan of the Resident Evil series, I've played almost all of them - except for some spin-offs - from the Playstation 1, where I followed the guide of Pixel, going from room to room, to the Playstation 5 and Village. My recent involvement with the Metro games and the purchase of Village on PS5 finally pushed me to start it. From the first moment, you understand that you're not going to play with the intention of relaxing, especially in the early stages of the game. I would divide the game into four levels. In the first and most terrifying, in my opinion, you simply try to survive in a purely psychological thriller without weapons and aids. It's not exactly Resident Evil, it's more like playing in a movie. If you withstand all this psychological pressure, the game in its second part starts to roll as Resident Evil 1 with a first-person perspective. Mansion with basements, attics, and warehouses, puzzles, some of which are identical to the first game, weapons, bullets, drawers, locks, and all the familiar elements we loved in the series. The third part, with clear influences from Revelations 1, which tried to explain the story somewhat clumsily for me, was the weakest point of the game. In the end, after collecting enough weapons, you can enjoy the game with less anxiety. The graphics are excellent for a game from 2017, very clear as the majority of it is dark, with incredibly realistic lighting. Note that I set the brightness and HDR to the maximum. The sound is perhaps one of the aspects where it surpasses the graphics and plays a leading role in creating the atmosphere the game aims for. I won't discuss anything else other than playing with headphones - especially at night. The gameplay is simple, solid, without unnecessary moves and buttons. The first-person perspective is something you get used to and it brings you closer to the enemies, who are not many but significant. The game's purpose is to scare you with the atmosphere it creates, not with the attacks of countless enemies, and in my opinion, it succeeds very well. The Baker family will make you feel like you're in their home... with each member chasing you in interesting and different ways. Ethan, as a character, is somewhat neutral, but the atmosphere is so powerful that it didn't bother me almost at all. The only negative thing I could point out is that it doesn't update the map if you have thoroughly searched a room or if there are still items to find, a feature that existed in previous Resident Evil games. At some point in the game, you will need to choose how to continue the story, with each choice slightly changing the ending of the game. I believe that the game achieves what it intended to offer - terror - with evident influences from the first game in the series, mainly in its structure and mechanics. For me, it offers a beautiful experience, and at its current price, it's worth trying for anyone who enjoys this kind of game.

Spoiler alert: excellent game.Technical aspects: sound/graphics/mechanics, all excellent. Especially the first-person perspective greatly helped due to its fantastic atmosphere.
I'm not an expert or a fan of this type of game, so I don't have much experience. The first 3-4 hours of the game are truly a nightmare if you play at night with headphones. What you have read elsewhere is really true.
From a certain point onwards, this element is lost and it becomes more action-oriented. I would say that from the halfway point, it's not as good as the first half, but it remains a terrifying title.
One detail, if your screen doesn't have good blacks, you will experience it like I did, I couldn't see well in certain parts.
The gold edition includes the DLCs, I don't have an opinion as I haven't dealt with them yet. It's a steal at 15-18€.

In terms of graphics, it's very good outside of VR... In VR, the resolution drops, as VR itself reduces the resolution compared to non-VR, so the resolution drop in VR is justified... Outside of VR, it's simply perfect for a game in 2017.
Gameplay: I found it relatively simple and easy to handle. In terms of puzzles, there were some that required a little thinking, but even there, you just had to pay a little attention and you could easily find the solution. As for the aim, which many say is not good, outside of VR it does require some effort to learn it well. In VR, the "issue" of aim is solved because you aim wherever you look.
Since I mentioned VR, the experience in VR is unreal... It's fully terrifying, beyond the jump scares, the whole atmosphere is amazing and terrifying.
In terms of the story, it was quite okay... The ending was a bit predictable and some parts of the last two hours were a bit meh... But it's quite okay for this type of game.
After finishing the game, you have many options... You can finish it again with certain parameters to progress to madhouse difficulty, more prepared... Warning: Madhouse is difficult... very difficult... you'll understand...
After all that, there are the DLCs, one of which is completely free and covers some gaps in the main story... Then there are the paid ones, which are quite okay. They range from minigames to extra explanations about the story.

After the positive impressions that the resident evil 2 remake had left me and after some time, I decided to play resident evil 7. Capcom decided to change the style of the resident evil games after many years, in order to "refresh" the series.
The 7th chapter takes place in Louisiana, where the new protagonist named Ethan Winters receives an email from his wife Mia, who had been missing for three years, telling him that she is in danger, but warning him not to look for her. Then Ethan goes to the fictional area of Dulvey, despite Mia's discouraging words from where he received the email, and encounters the Baker family's residence. He soon realizes that something is not right and thus begins the nightmare for him. The main villains of the series are the members of the family, namely Jack, Marguerite, and their son Lucas, who will haunt the player throughout the game. All three characters are very characteristic and can certainly stand alongside iconic characters of the franchise.
The most characteristic difference compared to the previous titles that a fan of the series will notice is the change in perspective from third-person to a first-person approach. The new look fits perfectly with the style of the game and makes it significantly scarier. Additionally, the player has the ability to defend against almost all enemy attacks (taking significantly less damage) with a new mechanism that practically functions as a shield. Most of the items that the player will discover have their roots in the first resident evil games. Of course, I am referring to herbs, gunpowder, etc., which can be combined with Chem fluid to create corresponding items. Furthermore, keys (Snake, Crow, Scorpion key) make their appearance once again, which the player must search for on the map in order to unlock specific rooms. A new addition is some items that the player must adjust correctly to match the shape of the board they belong to in order to unlock a hidden room. As for the difficulty, I played on normal and I can say that the game is manageable. It provides sufficient resources. With proper management, they will never run out. There are several weapons that the game provides to the player, so everyone can play with the weapons that suit their play style. I definitely consider resident evil 7 to be the most terrifying chapter of the series. It includes intense violent scenes as well as many disturbing scenes. I recommend that if someone is interested and not familiar with the horror genre, they should reconsider before making a purchase.
In the technical aspect, resident evil 7 performs excellently, as both the graphics and sound are exceptional. The RE Engine makes the entire game look even more atmospheric, with realistic reflections of water and objects from the light of the weapon. There are a few points where the textures are of low quality, but these points are minimal. One negative aspect is the long loading times, as it takes quite a while for the game to start. On the other hand, the sound of the weapons, footsteps, and dialogues is excellent. I have encountered such good sound in very few games.
The game's strengths include the exemplary level design that connects almost all areas of the game. The platinum trophy requires a lot of time to acquire because, in addition to the collectibles, the game needs to be completed on the highest difficulty, completed using three or fewer heals, and various other trophies that are not necessarily difficult but require time. I completed the game in ten hours, doing almost everything on the map.
Overall, Resident Evil 7 is a very good effort from Capcom, which despite its minor flaws, offers the player a well-written story with a large dose of horror. Because I am a huge fan of the series since I started playing Resident Evil 3 Nemesis PSX (1999) and have played all the episodes, when I saw the trailer, I was shocked by the various changes. I admit that I hesitated a lot to play it because of my obsession with zombies. That's how us thirty-year-olds are. I finished it and I have to say that it was so good that it returned to its horror roots.
Of course, it's not Resident Evil (according to Capcop, the 7th and 8th are not authentic), but it doesn't mean it's a bad game. Of course, it wasn't zombies, but a strange family that mutated due to the "telepathic" virus.
I gave it 4 stars because of its short duration and limited variety of monsters. It could have been a better horror game without the famous title (for example, Death House haha), but Capcop probably used it for more profit, as various rumors say.

I am a trophy hunter, as you can understand I have a lot of patience, as much as I liked the story of RE7, it was very exhausting. In many parts, you would get stuck for endless hours without knowing what to do, searching the whole house for the right items. Something that personally annoys me. Overall, the game is exceptional apart from the searching and the bad aim. The horror and claustrophobic environment give me a strange mood. It didn't seem terrifying to me, except for some jumpscares. Advice: don't play with children, it has many horrors and extreme cutscenes that can stay in a child's memory.

After the mediocre to bad 5th and 6th, Capcom understood that they needed to revive the series. The solution was probably the only way. We take RE2 and simply change some things. Now we are transported to a countryside residence (instead of a police station) and it turns into a first-person perspective, which didn't bother me at all. What can I say about this amazing game now... Graphics, sound, visuals, everything is top-notch. A nice storyline that doesn't make you bored at all... and yes, for the first time in a game, I managed to get scared. Don't dare to play it with young children in the room. If you love gaming without stupid hang-ups... Just enjoy it

The game is from another planet, it is the reason why the company started remaking its old titles and the reason why Resident Evil is great again. Moreover, I'm not the only one saying it, in the official trailer there is a top comment *one of the best games in history*. The soundtrack (go tell aunt Rhody) also achieved great success. The game has a better scenario than any horror movie you have seen, it has different endings, difficulties, secret weapons, it has the classic Resident Evil puzzles and overall the whole package in first person this time. I recommend it 100% and especially with a headset at full volume or VR for the full horror experience.
