The evolution of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in recent years has been impressively fast. The new directions, cloning (reproductive and therapeutic) beyond DNA recombination, the increasing number of products obtained from cell cultures (primary and secondary metabolites), the regulation of metabolic stages, the discovery of new biocatalysts (enzymes and microorganisms) have made it imperative to reissue and of course supplement and expand what is mentioned in the first edition.

As the title suggests, the book also includes elements of Biochemical Engineering. It is obvious, after all, that the production of a biotechnological product goes through the bioreactor, its types, its design, the processes of its reception and the modeling of the process.

In this second edition, additional chapters were included (referring to Bioorganic Chemistry), while the existing ones were enriched and some exercises-problems were added. Their addition was considered necessary for a more comprehensive understanding of the subject.
