This book is an introduction to experimental methodology and statistics using the R programming language and aims to:
(a) Present the basic principles of experimental methodology and experimental design.
(b) Introduce statistics with applications to linguistic problems.
(c) Introduce R, which is a programming language with specialized functions for statistical analysis.

Experimental methodology involves the systematic and organized examination of a research object. The research begins with the identification of a problem, the determination of specific research questions, and the formulation of specific experimental hypotheses.

In this book, we examine how statistical analysis works, what theoretical principles govern it, and how it relates to experimental methodology. The goal of the book is not only to teach how to conduct statistical tests, but primarily to present the reasoning behind them. This book has been designed to be as pedagogical and user-friendly as possible. Examples based on linguistics and language studies have been utilized for this purpose.
