The problems faced by technical works in relation to the properties and behavior of the geological substrate on which they are based present several difficulties in understanding both for geology students, civil engineers, and other related sciences, as well as for geotechnical researchers and professionals. This fact led us to write this book, which, in addition to being distributed to students of the Department of Geology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is also aimed at postgraduate students and professionals in the field of geotechnics.

Through the detailed resolution of representative exercises and problems that arise during the construction and operation of technical works, we aim to facilitate all the above colleagues in understanding and properly addressing them, for the benefit of the technical work. Of course, we could not present and solve all the geological-geotechnical problems that arise during the execution of technical works here. However, as mentioned, we provide representative solutions to problems that arise in the laboratory as well as in the field, at the site of the work.
