Lewis Carroll, the pseudonym by which the British writer, mathematician, photographer, and clergyman Charles Lutwidge Dodgson became widely known, was undoubtedly a lucky man. Unlike other creators who are recognized only after death, he was fortunate enough to see his most famous work, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," become the most popular children's book of all time. In the following years, his popularity increased even more, resulting in it becoming the most famous book of its kind in the world in the mid-20th century. One hundred and fifty years after its first publication in 1865, the endurance and multi-layered influence of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (a title that eventually became established) remain impressive: it has been translated into at least 97 languages and has seen numerous television and film adaptations.
