The purpose of the book is to offer the Greek academic community a comprehensive teaching manual on the basic principles of telecommunications theory.
The motivation for its writing was the realization that Greek technical literature - except for translations of foreign books - is lacking in textbooks that contain all the necessary theoretical knowledge for teaching the subject of telecommunications in a concise form.
The selection and organization of the material is based on the author's experience from his many years of involvement in telecommunications since the mid-1990s, and mainly from teaching a series of courses in telecommunications systems from 2004 to 2009 at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The book aims to cover the basic principles governing the operation of telecommunications systems. The material is presented in a concise form, placing special emphasis on the consolidation of concepts and techniques through a large number of examples, simulations, and diagrams.

It is addressed to students of the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Telecommunications and Networks Engineering, Computer Science, as well as to students of the Technological Institutes of the corresponding departments where the telecommunications course is taught.
