"Tango" is the first novel by Vasilis Alexakis written directly in Greek. It was first published in January 1982. A year later, it was also published in French, translated by the author. It was awarded by the French Academy.
It was adapted into a film by Giorgos Tsemperopoulos, titled "Sudden Love," starring Betty Livanou and Antonis Theodorakopoulos. It has sold over 200,000 copies.
I closed the door of the apartment behind me, placed the package on the table, and stared at it for a while. Then I tried to untie the string, but I couldn't, so I cut it with scissors. Inside the package, I found a glass bottle, like those from the pharmacy, filled with a transparent liquid. On the bottle, you had written in Chinese ink: PARISIAN RAIN. I also found this note: I collected it with a pot, from the window. My sleeve got wet. Gregory.
And when I stop being in love with you, Gregory, know that I will be grateful to you for giving me this gift. You lifted me in my own eyes, made me feel like a goddess. When I grow old and people ask me what significant thing happened in my life, I will only say: "Once, I was given a little rain."
