The Tecsun PL-310ET is a portable radio, small in size with excellent performance and digital signal processing with DSP. It covers the radio bands of Longwave, Mediumwave, Shortwave, and FM. It uses the DSP si374 microchip from Silicon Labs USA for digital demodulation and processing of analog signals modulated in AM and FM. It features high sensitivity, selectivity, low signal-to-noise ratio, and strong resistance to interference from unwanted signals. It comes with a carrying case, stereo headphones, and user instructions.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The radio is awesome! Regarding reception: perfect on all bands. No need to talk about FM. On MW, you will catch everything (at night we catch on MW). Set it to USA on MW (it will display temperature in F, but it doesn't matter, you can change it with a button) to gain frequencies 1620-1710 KHz where many amateur stations are broadcasted!
Now, on SW indoors, it has good reception but SW requires an antenna. You can simply pull a cable (a regular single speaker cable, costs 0.3€ per meter) as long as you can (I threw a 10m cable from the ground floor to the 1st floor) and wrap it around the antenna base (just for fun - that's the point). I have caught signals from Australia and North Korea to America and from Germany to Madagascar and Ghana! Generally, though, in a month you will be speaking Chinese :-) (they have the strongest stations...).
Reception, I think, is its strong point. Let me repeat that it catches well even with the built-in antenna, but with a simple and cheap way, you will greatly increase its reception.
The sound is good, but not perfect. It outputs FM in stereo through the headphones.
The build quality is average (it feels a bit like cheap plastic), with the tuning button being somewhat bad.
Very useful, the easy tuning mode is a great convenience. The auto storage, auto search, ETM, frequency input, and the classic "dial" are 5 different ways of station searching. So, the second strong point.
Also, use rechargeable batteries, you will need them if you use it continuously. It charges through the socket - no need for an extra charger for the batteries.
In summary, its strong points are reception and tuning, which are also the most important. So, it's a good purchase. If I had more money, I would look for something with SSB.
Very good radio with particularly smart and innovative features, I would say easy to use. The only thing I am worried about is the wheel it has on the side, it is not very high quality. Other than that, it is a value for money purchase.
Very good and value for money it makes!
