Description

A dictator resides in the Onassis villa with the "generous sponsorship" of DEI. A "sacred" Fund allows hundreds of millions of drachmas to "ascend to the heavens", or rather to be received by "national saviors" cronies. An American company boasts because it collects abundant money from the Greek state without doing anything at all. Greek banks finance the "construction" of tractors in Thessaloniki, but they are imported from Austria! Black meats flood the market for two - and more - years. Fatal industrial accidents multiply, industrial profits multiply, shipowners' taxation is almost zeroed. "Greece of Greek Christians" is indeed making history...

Dionysis Eleftheratos examines the economic, income, and social policy of the junta, from the "apparent prosperity" of 1967-71 to the complete demythologization of 1973-74, in his new book. In it, not only eloquent statistical data parade, but also scandals of all kinds, outrageous "sea loans", winners and losers, "jackpots" and "burned". Contracts that make the word "charitable" sound inadequate. Legislation and promises that seem to have been a source of inspiration for the labor "order of things" that Greece experienced - decades later - during the Memoranda era.

Also "parading" are the words and writings of the top leaders of the regime themselves. Vitriolic letters to G. Papadopoulos, "mutual stabbings" and denunciations, reports from the KYP that "filed" the protagonists of the endless feast of "borrowed and unreturned" - both the lenders and the recipients. And still, disputes among the economic "brains" of the dictatorship, about what went wrong that shattered the much-advertised - by themselves - "miracle", before the big oil crisis wave of 1973 even arrived in Greece.

A research with a strong scent of the era and comparisons of the "immediately before" with the "immediately after", a penetrating look into the economics of the dictatorship, in a way that takes into account the "coordinates" of the modern era, but also many of the "persistent" far-right myths about that period.

I bought the book to read, as I have read many books, but the book is full of lies and propaganda.

What can one say, a lot of research, Eleftheratos in everything he has done, from sports to political radio, and music, excellent. The title says it all about the content, it gives you an in-depth look at what these guys have been through.

Full of half-truths in the logic of NOT WORSE OPTIMUM. Simply an admittedly ambitious attempt to redeem the REAL junta, namely the transition. I believe it will do extremely well in sales, given the historical illiteracy of the modern Greek and the excellent censorship that, I believe, it will receive from television
