A one-day trip from Mytilene to Ayvalik. And there, between the two shores, in the middle of the sea, a journey through time. In bloody History. In what separates the people of the small bazaar. In what unites the peoples of the earth.

Asia Minor Catastrophe. Uprooting. Lost homelands. Treaty of Lausanne. The first major population exchange in modern History. Millions of tragedies, countless stories of hunted souls. Most of them we never learned. Others, those that refugees narrated to their children and grandchildren, gradually become confused, sink into oblivion, get lost. Very few of them were recorded on paper. Very few survived, to stand as a memory against the human mistakes that, when forgotten, are repeated.

There, at the watery borders, in the narrow passage between Lesbos and the Asia Minor beaches, four of these stories unfold. Four Ayvalik residents narrate. Three Greeks and one Turk: Fotis Kontoglou, Elias Venezi, Agapi Venezi-Moliviati, Ahmet Yorulmaz.

And when the feet touch the ground again, today tries to reconcile with yesterday. The journey is not over.
