Description
Albert Camus, as we all know, is one of the most popular foreign writers in Greece. The book you are holding in your hands is in a way the recording of an evening organized jointly by Kastaniotis Editions and the French Institute of Athens. An evening that simply wanted to remind three important parameters of Camus' work - the literary, the journalistic, and the philosophical/psychological - and to comment on them. The three speakers of the event dealt with these three parameters, with texts that were accessible, not at all affected or pompous, which functioned more with the sensitivity of a careful reader than with the cold gaze of an analyst, proving that, despite the fifty-four years that have passed since his unexpected death, Camus is still alive among us. "Hunting and docile, serious and theatrical, full of doubts and arrogant. He wanted to be loved and often succeeded. He wanted to be understood, but did not always succeed. He talked a lot about happiness to feel happy and peaceful himself. Camus remained unruly, solitary, supportive, he did not want to be either a victim or a perpetrator. [...] Camus experienced the bitter victories and fruitful defeats of justice and violence, and he put all these experiences into a work that occupies a significant place in the history of world literature."
(Antaios Chrysostomides)
