L-cysteine (sulfur-containing amino acid) is one of the basic components of hair (18%), nails (14%), and, to a lesser extent, skin (2% to 4%). L-cysteine is found in the keratin of hair and nails. It will accelerate the multiplication of cells that are rich in keratin, which has a positive effect on the development of hair and nails. High levels of cysteine appear, mainly in the hair, 4 to 6 weeks after taking the tablets.
Vitamin B6 is a vital factor for the use of L-cysteine. It allows the incorporation of L-cysteine into the areas where keratin is formed. The dietary balance between L-cysteine and vitamin B6 is necessary because a lack of B6 leads to a decrease in the incorporation of L-cysteine into hair and nails.
Arginine is an amino acid found in high concentrations in the active follicles of hair. It acts in synergy with L-cysteine, complementing its effects.
Zinc is also necessary for the formation of keratin. Additionally, it inhibits an enzyme that is responsible for hair loss. Its action is given with much greater potential than the presence of vitamin B6.
