Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The shoe is essentially a blend of the speedcross and the ultra glide. It has the grip and durability of the speedcross with the comfort of the ultra glide. It has the best of both worlds. I mainly use it for training and occasionally in races.
- It has a narrow fit, so I don't recommend it for wide feet. It fits me like a glove. While the toe area is just wide enough, the outsole at this point is wide. On the other hand, the heel is narrower. The shape of the outsole is like an 8 with a wide shape at the forefoot and narrow at the heel.
- It has moderate breathability, but this helps keep the inside clean. Generally, breathability and dust protection are at odds. You lose one of the two. Nevertheless, my foot neither gets soaked nor swollen. You just feel that sometimes it gets warm.
- I don't need to say anything about the grip. It's top-notch, but you expect that from Salomon. The lugs are 5mm, with a sparse distribution on the sole, and an aggressive design. It's a shoe for technical terrain, but of course, you can wear it anywhere else. Although it doesn't have a rock plate, its stability is excellent and gives you confidence.
- It's a comfortable shoe; it has never tired me out, no matter what terrain I've run on. It has good protection all around for impacts from stones, etc.
- It has reinforcement in the arch for supination, like mine. This is another reason it worked for me. However, sometimes it irritates the arch of my foot where I don't have supination. The problem can be solved with thicker socks and very tight lacing, but I mention it nonetheless.
- It has very good transition even on asphalt. You run comfortably there too.
Therefore, 4.5 stars from me. I consider the shoe top-notch in its category. Give it a rock, and it will take you as many kilometers as you want.
Update 22/7
Having worn the shoes in Olympus and Zagori, I notice that on technical descents, where there are a lot of stones, the back of the shoe is not stable. I assume this has to do with the fact that the outsole is narrow at the heel, as I mentioned above. So, caution is needed. Minus half a star for this, and 4 stars. The rest holds true as I noted above.
