Behind the Design

This Peg 40 is dedicated to "The Joggers Manual". It is a brochure written by Bill Bowerman, with instructions on how to jog and the benefits it offers. The colors refer to the cover of the book, the stitched Swoosh logo reminds us of the days when Bill diligently dealt with training matters (not exhaustion), while the material of the Swoosh logo mimics the texture of the track surface. See Bill's signature on the side, as well as the special message inside the tongue, which reminds us that the only thing that matters is movement.

The more supportive the shoe, the greater stability it can provide to your natural stride. The combination of optimized support and cushioning at the right points ensures a stable feel with every step. The Peg 40 has neutral support. It provides the balance you need, whether you first touch the ground with your heel or with the forefoot. It is also ideal for both long and short runs, as it ensures a smooth transition from heel to toe.

Cushioning: Medium

The more cushioning you have in the midsole, the softer and more comfortable your running experience can be. Cushioning helps limit the impact when your foot contacts the ground. Feel the ground contact thanks to Nike React technology, a lightweight but durable foam that offers comfortable and responsive strides. It maintains its shape on every run, providing a stable feel.

Responsiveness: High

The higher the responsiveness the shoe offers, the greater energy return you can enjoy with every step. Whether you want to run a little faster or with a little less effort, high responsiveness shoes offer a slightly more elastic feel with every step, allowing you to make the most of every run. We combined Nike React technology with two Zoom Air units (one in the forefoot and one in the heel) for an extremely elastic and dynamic feel during toe-off.

We redesigned the strap in the middle of the sole for a more adjustable fit on the foot, with a special shape for arches of every size.

What's new in the Peg 40?

When we started designing the Peg 40, we took a reverse approach, literally, starting with the application of a strip in the middle of the sole for a more stable, but also more comfortable feel, giving the impression that the Peg gives the arch of the foot a welcoming, gentle embrace. We wanted the inner boundaries of the shoe to be comfortable, ventilated, and provide a relaxed feel to the toes, arch, and heel, where the feet are more sensitive, with a specially designed circular pattern that allows the shoe to adapt to the shape of the foot.
