I run recreationally at a fast pace at 5.00 and long/easy run at 6.10. I would say they are comfortable for running, but up to 21k, not for more.
Their strong point is probably daily fast 10k runs and tempo runs.
These specific shoes highlighted a pronation issue in my right foot that I hadn't noticed with other shoes. They are not "stability" shoes, meaning they do not offer enough lateral support for the foot strike. They did not cause me any problems but I feel a bit strange when running. They are decent shoes, but I will switch to something else because I want more kilometers on a daily basis.
They are used for daily running on asphalt, alternating with Triumph 20. Having run about 400km so far, I can say they are super, especially at the price of €90 they were purchased for! Comfortable for distances of 10-15km and quite light (250gr in size 41). Very good durability so far and excellent grip on wet roads (Puma shoes can't compete with this).
After the first 5k run with them, they are comfortable and didn't bother me at all! Their strong point is the grip they have, it's truly like a suction cup!
Very good and reliable training shoe from Puma that has made a strong comeback. Efficient and comfortable, especially considering the purchase price of around 90 euros, it is excellent in terms of quality-price ratio. It is always good to try a running shoe (ideally on a treadmill, something that is available in several specialized stores) as with so many options in shoes, there are definitely differences in fit and foot strike for each individual. After 1200 km with this shoe, I consider it one of the best purchases I have made!
They were used during breaks and races for 10 and 5 km. The shoes lead you to better times without even realizing it. They are quite lightweight and help in achieving goals. I would recommend them!
The shoe was comfortable but it wore out after 4.5 months as shown in the photo. So, durability is terrible, therefore stay away from it because you will cry for your money
For many years, Puma and running shoes were not concepts that were associated with each other. Coming from Hoka Clifton 8, Saucony Triumph 19, Saucony Speed 3, and other previous models such as Nike Vomero and Adidas Solarboost, Puma was uncharted territory. After some rave reviews on international websites and a brief test during the Athens Marathon 2022, I bought them and I have to admit that I have no regrets at all. Usually, I change shoes because I like to try different brands and models, but this is the first time I can say that I will buy the same shoes again when the time comes. More specifically:
Fit: 9/10 The shoe fits very well on the foot without any issues. It has a narrow design, so it may not be suitable for those with wide feet. The knit material, although it may not seem like it, is durable and not very stretchy, allowing enough room for the toes. The tongue is not very padded, but I did not experience any discomfort in the instep or Achilles, as many complained about with the previous model.
Breathability: 8/10 The shoe is quite breathable, but it can be warm around the collar. I suppose this is because there is more cushioning material there. However, it is not a reason to be bothered during long runs.
Quality: 9/10 The shoe has good construction and durability, but some cuts in the lace holes and sticking of the knit material could be more refined.
Sole: 10/10 This is truly impressive. I won't judge if they have a plate or what material they are made of, but based on the feeling they give you. They have a very pleasant and relatively firm cushioning that provides stability and bounce when you pick up the pace. They are very comfortable for easy runs, but when you increase the pace and go below 5:30 minutes/km, the shoe continues to perform very well, absorbing shocks and giving a little push. They don't have the agility and lightness of the Saucony Speed 3, but they are perhaps a click or two below. They feel particularly soft when walking, but the faster you go, the tighter they become without ever becoming too stiff. Personally, I use them for all my training sessions except for interval runs, for which I wear the Speed 3.
Grip: 10/10 I don't know how Puma managed it, but the shoe doesn't slip anywhere, and the rubber is highly durable. I have worn them on muddy forest trails with leaves, and the grip is far superior to any other road shoe I have tried. Additionally, the durability of the sole is truly impressive, so add that to the many kilometers of use. As an example, I have included a photo of the Puma shoes at around 700 km and the Speed 3 at 220 km. The difference is significant, with the Saucony shoes not having seen much dirt, unlike the Puma shoes.
Weight - Size: 278 grams in size 44.5, while the Saucony Speed 3 weighs 235 grams. The shoe is neither very light nor heavy. It is simply satisfactory. As for the size, I went up half a size, but I also went up half a size with the Saucony shoes. It is better to choose a size based on the measurements of your foot, leaving the necessary margin.
Overall, it is a shoe that has truly won me over. It allows me to run at various paces, on different terrains such as dirt, asphalt, or even trails, and its durability is the best I have encountered so far in running shoes. The absorbency of it has not decreased after many kilometers, and even at 700 km I should be looking for the next ones, I am thinking if they will be the ones that will accompany me in the next marathon.
With just one week of use, unfortunately you feel the inner part of the sole collapsing... great disappointment, a lot of pain in the ankles and heels, and risk of injury...
There is absolutely no support in the sole (and extension in the foot), which, as it compresses, pushes the foot inwards and causes you to walk crookedly...
Moreover, if someone observes the sole, they will see in the middle of it how there is a piece of exposed foam without any support in the middle of the arch, and the hard little rubber that is located on the inside of the heel is not enough to hold the soft foam that compresses, it collapses, with a huge risk of injury, as you walk crookedly and dangerously swell...
Honestly, it's a shame.
As a first impression, they were impressive but unfortunately I wasted my little money...
I come back to add that unfortunately within two weeks of use, the outer sole also started to collapse... pieces of rubber come off from the foam... unfortunately, it's the worst thing I have encountered... I can't explain how this is possible... you buy an expensive German product seeing so many perfect reviews... maybe it was a defective product, but now you can never trust the same company again...
Carbon plated shoes with 87 euros from the Puma Germany website are nowhere to be found. The shoe is relatively heavy compared to the Hoka Mach 5, Saucony Speed 2, and similar in weight to the Asics Novablast 3. They are suitable for all types of training, both fast and slow. Unique grip, no slippage, and high durability due to the incredibly high-quality Puma grip outsole. Very good shock absorption and energy return due to the Pebax Nitro Elite midsole in the front of the shoe. From the midfoot to the heel, the material of the midsole changes to nitro-infused foam, which provides stability and tighter cushioning. The upper material could have better breathability, but they are not considered hot shoes. The only negative for me is the shallow toebox, which leads to choosing a larger half size than usual, thus making it longer. Personally, I had to go a whole size up, not so much because of the shallow toebox, but because Puma does not produce half sizes after size 46. I needed 46.5, and since they don't have half sizes, I went for size 47, resulting in it being slightly longer than I would have liked. However, even so, the shoe holds the foot very well, the heel is locked in place, and when I run, I don't notice it, it just visually appears that I have a longer foot! Update: after 500km, the wear on the outsole is minimal, they will comfortably last another 500km
One of the best all-around shoes at an excellent price. It is suitable for speed work, recovery, and long runs. It has carbon but is still flexible enough to be affordable for more runners. At first, I was a little scared of its weight compared to the Speed 3, but you don't notice it on your foot. Well done, Puma
Bought it for 108 euros. It's suitable for long distances. It's a lightweight and fast shoe, weighing only 252 grams in size 42. The sole is made of soft material. The cushioning is soft and stable, providing full energy return and shock absorption that makes you want to run. It performs equally well at all speeds and on all terrains, which is very helpful. The fabric is breathable and keeps the foot cool, with an elastic tongue for a secure fit and a heel with minimal protection.
Incredible shoes! The perfect combination of speed and comfort on the foot. They also have a carbon plate, they are really fast without losing any of their comfort. As one review says, "It reduces the gap between racing shoes and training shoes." Puma sells them for under 100 euros on their website. Just keep in mind that they require half to one size larger. Don't think twice, get them!
I did not have a high opinion of Puma shoes, especially for running shoes. They always had hard and rigid soles and a narrow fit, which caused more fatigue than comfort. However, after much reading and research, I decided to give them a chance and I was not disappointed.
The improvement compared to previous models is like night and day. They are quite lightweight, 285 grams in size 45, and they fit the foot very well while allowing good breathability on the upper part. The sole has the best grip I have ever experienced in a running shoe and it is unaffected by rain or cold. They perform exceptionally well on the track, becoming one with the surface.
For fast workouts, these shoes are excellent, surprisingly soft, especially on the upper part. The sole is relatively soft, despite having a carbon plate inside. Its flexibility is such that it does not cause any fatigue, while the foot remains comfortable throughout the training. However, as the kilometers increase, they can become tiring, so I would not recommend them for a marathon or a half marathon. The reason is that they do not allow much room for the foot to move inside the shoe, as they generally have a narrow fit, and the sole, which does not absorb all the shocks, starts to bother the joints. Of course, this is purely subjective for each individual.
The photos are from when I first got them, and the evaluation is based on 300km of training. They show no signs of wear yet.
I am a beginner when it comes to running, but I have been an athlete all my life.
This particular shoe has very good construction quality, a great sole, and is very lightweight.
- It is important to mention that I found it relatively narrow for my size, I would definitely want a half size larger (I have several Puma shoes, and I didn't have any issues with the others). If it was the right size, maybe my whole experience would have been better.
I give it a 9/10 for this reason and because it is not waterproof at all, I happened to walk through wet grass and they got soaked inside and out.
Puma has made an incredible come back with their new running shoes. The Nitro 2s are incredibly soft and lightweight, with amazing energy return. They are perfect for interval training (3:20-3:40'/km) as well as long runs, as they are incredibly comfortable and effortlessly eat up the kilometers! My feet already love them and they are on a completely different level! You can get them with your eyes closed!
For years, I ran with Pegasus, then with Asics Nimbus, and I also have the Nike Invincible Run. But the Deviate Nitro 2 are the best running shoes I have tried, by far. Currently, they have a similar price to the Nike Pegasus 39, but they are absolutely nothing alike. If someone wears and runs a little with one and then with the other, they will immediately realize that they are two different levels of design, quality, protection, feel, etc. To put it simply, you feel the Nike ones amateurish and (relatively) cheap, and the Puma ones professional/elite and expensive. They have a fairly stable foot strike, with great cushioning but without feeling like pillows. The shoe is great for all speeds, but if you run a little faster once, you will always want to run fast, it has such a perfect feel. To cut it short, I have doubled the number of days I run since I got them, it just makes you want to run and increase speed to feel the sensation. Finally, the upper is incredibly high-quality, it hugs and secures the foot like no other shoe under 200 euros. Only thing is, they are not for wide feet (I've heard). And I forgot to mention, they also stand out visually, especially in this color.
Forget about the usual brands, here the money truly pays off. Oh, and if you're one of those who occasionally drag their feet, don't get them, I mean the sole sticks to the ground, there's no chance of slipping even in rain or anywhere (Okay, I didn't test them on oil!)
Having tried Saucony, Mizuno, Asics & Adidas, I went around this year trying Novablast 3, Speed 3, etc.
I didn't expect such a surprise from Puma.
Plenty of bounce, excellent fit, perfect grip from the sole, excellent cushioning.
It seemed to me the ideal amount in all characteristics - and it turned out to be the best I have run with so far.
Anyone who wants to analyze it further can check reviews from runningshoesguru, runrepeat, etc. But make sure to buy after trying them on in a physical store.
Keep in mind that not everything suits everyone, we are speaking subjectively.
After a lot of searching and while I had settled on some of the traditional running brands due to the good reviews I had heard, I decided to try them. As soon as I put them on, they fit perfectly on my foot and I bought them.... After a week of running with them, I have to say:
Tremendous grip, sticks to the ground, suitable for running in the rain.
Incredibly soft cushioning without losing stability and energy return.
The fit on the foot is one of the best.
I would recommend anyone looking for athletic shoes for everyday training and more to try them... Puma is back
