The RUT901 by Teltonika is a mobile router, a device to which other devices (e.g., computer, mobile phone, television) connect wirelessly, and it distributes internet access to them. It receives internet access through the built-in modem and uses the mobile network by installing a SIM card. The SIM card must have an active connection with a data package.
It connects to the 4G network, which offers significantly higher speeds than 3G. For the device to operate at this speed, there must be corresponding coverage from the mobile network in the area where we are located.
It is of Wi-Fi 4 generation, an older generation recommended for use with a few devices and for applications that do not require high speeds. The device has the capability to configure a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that the traffic from all devices on our network passes through it. The VPN acts as an intermediary between us and the rest of the internet, giving us the ability to appear as if we are geographically located in another country, and the pages we visit see the VPN's address as the visitor's address, not ours. This provides us with anonymity and access to geographically restricted content. VPN services are usually paid with a subscription.
With MAC address filtering, it allows specific devices to connect based on their unique MAC address, blocking any device with a MAC address that has not been designated as acceptable. It offers next-generation WPA3 security, with even greater password protection and easier and more secure device connections. It offers WPA2 security, a protocol that replaced WPA in 2004 and uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) technology, which is approved by the U.S. government for classified documents. It is considered safe for home use.
