Description

This book is aimed at students of the Veterinary School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and aims to help them better understand the basic topics of theoretical and practical teaching related to the breeding of equines.

The content of the book is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter refers to the structure and importance of "Hippotrophy", the second to the classification, origin and nomenclature of equines, the third to the external morphological formation of their bodies, the fourth to the colors and their particular characteristics, the fifth to the determination of their age, the sixth to the most important breeds of horses, the seventh to the behavior and well-being of equines, and the eighth and final chapter to their breeding methods.

In selecting the material, both the content of other courses taught at the Veterinary School of A.U.Th. and the need to provide the basic principles governing the breeding of equines were taken into account. It is self-evident that the scope of "Hippotrophy" is not limited to the data of this book. Thus, at the end, a series of bibliographic sources is provided, to which the reader can refer for more information.

This book is the second edition, which has been enriched compared to the initial one in order to be a useful aid for students of Veterinary Medicine, as well as for anyone interested in the breeding of equines.
