The North Face® has created the most advanced waterproof and breathable membrane technology, FUTURELIGHT™. This new breathable waterproof material is set to change the future of athletic fabrics. For the first time, an advanced material has been developed using the innovative "Nanospinning" technology, which allowed the company's designers to add the feature of air permeability to the fabric membrane.
Nanospinning technology creates nano-sized holes, enabling the fabric to be porous while maintaining its overall waterproof protection, allowing air to pass through the material and providing the garment with more ventilation than ever before. Additionally, it offers designers the ability to adjust the weight, elasticity, breathability, durability, construction, and texture so that the product meets the activities or environment of athletes and consumers. Designers can customize the fabric for specific uses, for example, increasing breathability in garments for aerobic exercises or enhancing protection for harsh, rainy conditions.
The FUTURELIGHT™ fabric was born in the mountains, inspired by The North Face's global team of athletes who seek increased performance and breathability in their waterproof gear. The material has undergone extensive testing by the company's global team of athletes and is tested for missions on the highest peaks and the most adverse environments, including Lhotse and Everest in the Himalayas.
With the strictest material evaluation tests, the highest level of FUTURELIGHT™ products was created. The advanced FUTURELIGHT™ products have passed rigorous internal controls using the "Moisture Vapor Transmission" test. Through this, it was found to be the most breathable material currently available on the market.
