The previous Samsung phones I had so far were the A5, the A7, and the A52. I was absolutely satisfied with all of them and they were all excellent, each in its own time. However, I believe that the A52 was perhaps the most value for money they had released in that specific category.
I didn't go for the A53 because I couldn't find any reason to change my A52. Nor with the A54, apart from the physical external wear due to age, I didn't have any serious justification to change it. But a careless fall and a large crack on the screen led to its replacement with the A54, even though the A55 had just come out.
I found the A54 for 280 euros so I judged that giving another 100-110 euros for the Exynos 1480 of the A55 instead of the 1380 that the A54 has would be a bit of unnecessary waste, even though tech-freaks and internet gurus claim how big the performance difference between the two processors is.
They said the same about the Snapdragon 720G compared to the Exynos 1380, but personally, I don't find the difference to be as big as they wanted to present it, sorry. The lag of the 720G is indeed slightly larger compared to the 1380, but not significantly more annoying.
Overall, the A54 slightly outperforms the A52 in speed, as I mentioned before, it has a slightly smaller lag. Its sound is also better, much fuller. And in photos, it excels in clarity. In the same settings, the A52 has slightly warmer tones compared to the A54, as if it has a filter for warmer colors. While the A54 seems to be trying to render the shades somewhat more realistically and faithfully, and it succeeds without deviating from the Samsung's factory style.
However, the disadvantage that one notices at the beginning with the A54, especially compared to all the previous models of the A series that I had, is the battery. And indeed, at the beginning, it doesn't even last a day. And as much as I didn't want to believe too much in the complaints when I read user comments, unfortunately, I experienced it daily with mine. With all the previous Samsung phones, I could reach from the start 1.5 days easily. Especially with the A52, which forgets to discharge, even now after so many years. While with the A54, the battery lasts from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening. And I have done the same things in settings and applications on these two phones.
For this problem, the unjustifiably short battery life, many owners abroad blame the One UI 6.1. Anyway, despite the fact that I was desperate the first few days with it, eventually after 10-15 days, the battery started to recover and reach the normal duration levels of the previous models.
Also, the A54 is 10 grams heavier than the A52, but ok, we move on, that won't bother us now.
Anyway, apart from the battery issue that many have touched upon, which, however, was resolved on its own over time for me, to be fair, the A54 remains a really good phone, fast in performance (thanks to the 8GB RAM), with excellent image clarity and much improved performance in night shots and even better sound.
Especially at the 280 euros that I bought it for 2-3 weeks ago, then we are talking about a top purchase. Whoever buys it, because it's not the lightest phone, it's good to have a protective case from the start, the pieces fall easily where you least expect it.
