"I remember, and I will never forget, the strong impact that theatrical experiences had on me during my teenage years. Whether they were performances that I watched or performances in which I participated myself. Of all the performances I watched, very few were truly memorable from an artistic perspective. Performances that a spectator, especially a teenager, would truly find worth seeing. However, there was not a single one of them that did not deeply impress me, a kind of shock that I still recall even today... So when last spring the GRASSHOPPER group and Sofia Vgenopoulou proposed that I write a play for a teenage audience, I felt like I was being given a unique opportunity. As a contributor to a performance, I would also be able to provoke some young souls with a little bit of that sacred awe of theater. If I could achieve even a little bit of that, I would be very happy."

This is how Vangelis Chatzigiannidis introduces the publication of his play "On the Screen, Light" which is presented from November 10, 2011 to May 13, 2012, in 54 performances for schools and the public, at the Onassis Foundation's Stegi of Letters and Arts, directed by Sofia Vgenopoulou.

A great secret puts the friendship of five teenagers to the test and threatens to disrupt the balance of an entire school. All it takes is the press of a button and everything will come to light, the screen will catch fire.

The vocabulary and expressions of the teenagers create a smooth surface like plexiglass, crystalline and mathematical, resistant, like in music where patterns reappear and intertwine. But in the final melody, this "cool" web reveals cracks, wounds, marks, and whatever else a young person may carry, because, naturally, they were not born out of nowhere but from their parents. The path of self-awareness for a child passes through the world of adults and has the same stages: Virtue, Vice, Transcendence, Catharsis. A microcosm where we will all see our own faces on the illuminated screen.
