Description

My story begins from the end - hers and mine.

Thus begins the "Book of Katerina", a woman who fought a lifelong battle with mental illness, and who, if defeated, lived and thrived humbly thanks to love.
A family saga filled with grim secrets and deadly guilt, a mystery book about an inconceivable murder and its two victims, and a dive into a soul that shocks with its light and darkness.

Katerina tells us:

This book is not meant to hurt anyone, except those who read it.

This book, they will say, is full of lies, malice, inaccuracies, a distortion of our family history by a bitter and sick mind seeking revenge for the death it alone chose.

However, this is my truth, and beyond that, everyone can choose the oblivion that suits them, that comforts them; so it is if they think so.

This book destroys me.

This book is meant to destroy me, to tear me apart.

Within my pieces, I exist.

And whoever hears it will never forget it.

Reviews

  • This book should be read by those who are parents. Unfortunately, the only thing that could help Katerina is confession, no matter how cliché it sounds. It reminded me of my childhood that I don't want to remember. I thank Petros who, through his experiences, made me think about changing my views on the well-being of my children

I have to say that I had started it twice before I managed to finish it. The first pages had shocked me. However, the third time I was determined not only to start it, but also to finish it. And I was emotionally rewarded. A book with humor, tenderness, and harshness at the same time, perfectly realistic, and like all biographies, it has everything and embraces you, making you feel like you've known the characters for years. It introduces you in simple words to the world of bipolar disorder. I highly recommend it with only one concern that some people may be more sensitive and get emotionally affected.

Very tender and at the same time harsh book about the author's relationship with his mother and her eternal battle with manic depression leading to her suicide. The effects on his psyche as a child but also the subsequent traumas...
