Owner for almost two months, the atmos-type effect does have a difference, but it is not a true atmos (it works better if placed in a spot where there is a wall on the right and left of the bar). As for the subwoofer, it is a wooden box with a port on the back side, very high quality for its category. The box is tuned very low, resulting in its strong point being the very low frequencies. The placement of the sub needs attention, it should be close to a wall so that with the reflection of the lows, you can have maximum performance. It easily plays at 30hz!! The volume now is more than enough for a living room.
After many months of use, I have to say that I can't get enough of listening to music and watching movies every day! Amazing sound quality, full sound, and no matter what, it's worth its money! It fits perfectly under my 65" LG TV without needing a wall mount... My living room is about 30 square meters and I can't turn up the soundbar all the way... And because it's subjective what each person considers loud and what not, to help make what I'm saying more understandable, I'm a person who likes to always listen at full volume, with crystal clear and full sound! Certainly, JBL's larger series will be superior, but for a living room like mine, it's more than enough, especially if you live in an apartment building.
It connects easily with airdrop & Bluetooth. It automatically turns on as soon as you turn on the TV, with automatic playback from the soundbar. It saves space compared to Hi-Fi systems, the Dolby Atmos function is satisfactory... certainly the larger series with more channels are much better in terms of this specific function.
Feedback from all my friends and relatives who come to my house, everyone wants to buy the same soundbar when they leave. They have become regular customers and certainly watching a movie in combination with a large TV makes the experience unique.
After a month of use, I am completely satisfied with the JBL Soundbar! Very good build quality, especially the woofer. Overall, the proposition is great value for money if you don't want to go over 500-600. I use it with the LG OLED C2 55' with a Ugreen cable that supports eARC. Excellent sound, powerful bass, easy connection especially with the JBL app, setup and calibration are a breeze. The sound experience compared to the TV speakers changes not only on platforms like Netflix, Apple TV, etc. that support Dolby Atmos, but also on regular digital channels! Additionally, the sound does not distort at high volumes!
Powerful bar for your money with a very good subwoofer. Any movie that doesn't have Dolby Atmos runs in Dolby Surround, but now most on Netflix, Disney plus, etc. are Dolby Atmos. It is easily adjusted with a TV that has eARC, simply by enabling HDMI CEC. It calibrates the room using the 2 speakers it has on the top of the bar.
It is the third soundbar I have purchased. I have connected this soundbar, the JBL Bar 500 (with MultiBeam and Dolby Atmos 3D), to my Samsung QLED 65' TV using HDMI/eARC connection. It connected to the TV immediately and without any issues. Especially if you use the Android/iOS app "JBL One" on your mobile, the initial connection is a breeze. The app also updates the soundbar's firmware via WiFi without any problems. It also calibrates the sound in the room where you have placed it.
The collaboration with my Samsung TV is PERFECT. The sound volume can also be adjusted using the TV remote control. And it plays very loudly and perfectly through the HDMI/eARC cable.
(Note: Only the bass (position 1-5) is adjusted using the soundbar remote control and not my TV. But this is a static setting that doesn't change often, so it doesn't bother me. Besides, in all the soundbars I've had, the bass was adjusted this way).
In terms of sound... well... NO COMPARISON... with my old soundbars. The sound fills my (large) living room, which is 40 sqm, as if I'm in a movie theater. Much louder, vibrant, and fuller compared to my previous soundbars. I highly recommend it. You won't have any problems, and JBL is a top company. Choose this one with your eyes closed (says someone who has already bought two other soundbars from different brands).
