I bought them for hiking during the warmer months of the year when mountaineering boots are not the best option. They are like a good waterproof athletic shoe with some ankle support. My first impressions are that they seem to be of very good quality, relatively lightweight, beautifully designed, and have a good outer sole for all types of surfaces. Now, as for the negatives, they have a VERY narrow fit. Even for me, who has narrow feet, they will need some breaking in. The size needed to be one size larger than what I wear in other Salomon shoes. THAT'S HOW NARROW THEY ARE! The quick lace system didn't impress me at first, but you get used to it. They provide some ankle stability, but not as much as a mountaineering boot. No comparison. The waterproofing is also a positive. I will update in the comments after putting them through more testing in the mountains.
UPDATE 07/24/23: Having done around 10 hiking trails (some of them over 20km), I can say that they hold the foot quite stable, have good grip on the outer sole, but they are not as comfortable as I had hoped they would be, like athletic shoes. No comparison. I believe that for their price (I bought them for 150 euros), they are not worth it. Get something else like La Sportiva, Salewa.
