There’s power in silence

Thanks to the efficiency of the M2 chip, MacBook Air can deliver amazing performance without a fan — so it stays completely silent no matter how intense the task.

M2 chip

The M2 chip starts the next generation of Apple Silicon, with even more of the speed and power efficiency of M1. So you can get more done faster with a more powerful 8‑core CPU. Create captivating images and animations with up to a 10-core GPU. Work with more streams of 4K and 8K ProRes video with the high‑performance media engine. And keep working — or playing — all day and into the night with up to 18 hours of battery life.

More speed for all your apps.

All your go-to apps run lightning fast in macOS — including Microsoft 365 and many of your favorite iOS apps. And with over 15,000 apps and plug-ins optimized for Apple silicon, your creative future is wide open.

Liquid Retina screen

The breathtaking 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display is the biggest — and brightest — ever on MacBook Air, with support for 1 billion colors. Text is supercrisp, and photos and movies more brilliant and vivid, with rich contrast and sharp detail.

  • 500 nits of brightness
  • P3 wide color
  • True Tone technology

Camera and audio

Make your best impression on video calls with the 1080p FaceTime HD camera and three‑mic array. Surround yourself with an expansive soundstage, compliments of the four‑speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. MacBook Air was designed to thrill the senses.

1080p FaceTime HD camera

Look your best with a camera that doubles the resolution and low-light performance of the previous generation.

Three-mic array

Come through loud and clear on calls wherever you are, thanks to the three-mic array with advanced beamforming algorithms to capture clean audio.

Four-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio

Immerse yourself in movies and music with improved stereo separation and vocal clarity from two tweeters and two ultrathin woofers. Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos places sound all around you.

Connectivity

The quick-release MagSafe power connector easily attaches — and detaches — with magnets, preventing any unintended flights. Two Thunderbolt ports let you connect and power high-speed accessories. You can also connect up to a 6K display. And the headphone jack supports high‑impedance headphones.

The M2 chip is really fast

Compare with MacBook Air with M1

  • Video processing 1.4 times
  • Image filters and effects 1.2 times
  • Games 1.3 times
  • Scene processing detection 1,6 times
  • Photo stitching 1.4 times
  • ProRes video decoding 3 times
  • Image upgrading 1.2 times

Compared to MacBook Air with Intel processor

  • Video processing 15 times
  • Image filters and effects 5 times
  • Games 3.2 times
  • Scene processing detection 7 times
  • Photo stitching 5 times
  • ProRes video decoding 24 times
  • Image upgrading 26 times

Magic Keyboard

Comfortable and quiet, the Magic Keyboard now features a full-height row of function keys for quick access to favourite buttons and shortcuts. Touch ID makes it easy to unlock your Mac, enter passwords, and securely make purchases or payments-all with the touch of a finger. Thanks to the larger Force Touch surface, there's even more room to work with precision.

Thunderbolt 4

Thunderbolt 4 brings many improvements and new features to the table compared to Thunderbolt 3.

  • Speed. Thunderbolt 4 ports have the same 40 Gbps high-speed bandwidth as Thunderbolt 3. However, minimum PCIe data requirements have increased from 16 Gbps to 32 Gbps . This means that high-speed external PCIe devices, such as storage and external graphics, could see significant increases in transfer rates and performance.
  • Security. VT-d-based DMA protection helps prevent security threats by re-assigning requests from external devices and checking for appropriate permissions.
  • Wake from sleep. This feature allows a computer to come out of sleep mode with peripherals connected via a docking base.

Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 gives you a smooth flow, greater range and increased capacity. Enjoy faster Wi-Fi speeds from multiple devices at the same time.

It also gives you a 40% increase in data flow and is fully compatible with older Wi-Fi devices.

After 8 years with a MacBook Pro, I decided to switch to something newer. Due to cost reasons, I went with the Air, but after the encouragement of friends, I purchased a BTO with 16GB of RAM. The machine is incredibly fast, boots up in seconds, and doesn't lag in any office applications or with multiple open tabs. Soon, I will test it for video editing and share my impressions. So far, I haven't encountered any issues with temperatures, but my tasks and ambient temperatures haven't pushed the machine to its limits. However, in normal use, there is no problem. The battery life is UNBELIEVABLE, I didn't expect to charge the laptop every 3-4 days (even up to a week), I truly have no words. To put it in perspective, you can easily watch 3-4 streaming movies before needing to charge. The screen is nice, slightly better than the old model I had but inferior to the current pro models (e.g. miniled). The keyboard is silent, and personally, I find it convenient for long hours of typing. I got it in the midnight color, which is impressive, but fingerprints and stains are noticeable. Finally, after about 2.5 months, I haven't experienced any issues with the coating, as mentioned on some websites, but I am careful with its transportation and haven't bumped it to cause scratches. If you're not a careful person and a mark would bother you, choose a different color.

Conclusion: The laptop doesn't lack anything, it has performance, battery life, a good screen, and keyboard. BUT its price is quite high, like all Apple products. There is also the M1 model at a better price with minor differences mainly in design.

I have had it for about 3 months now and it is truly the best laptop I have ever had! Very fast, lightweight, and it handles every "challenge" you throw at it. I mainly got it for graphic design and it has never disappointed me. Only in cases of 3D and more demanding tasks, it may lag a bit, as the lack of fans causes it to overheat and slow down. But with a fan base, I believe it will solve the problem. Personally, it doesn't bother me at all as it covers most of my needs and these more demanding tasks are rare, making the purchase of a MacBook Pro unnecessary and excessive. Anyone interested in graphic design, this laptop will truly be a game-changer for them. However, if someone needs it more for 3D, rendering, and editing large 4K files, it's better to go for a Pro. As I carry it in my bag, I don't feel anything because it is so lightweight and thin, which is a very positive thing. I will come back later if there is anything else I need to add (Model with 16GB RAM and 256 storage).

Battery life with internet usage and anything else a regular person can do when browsing is about 16 to 15 hours. Very nice design, user-friendly keyboard, and the camera now takes up a small space on the screen, hence the extra 0.3 inches of screen. The version with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD is a very commendable choice at 1700 euros. It has been said that the MacBook Air with the M1 processor had faster data transfer on the SSD. My friend has the M1, so I will compare and respond. In high-resolution 4K videos, you feel it heating up in the center. Very good screen, nice sound from the speakers. Overall, it's an Apple product that meets the expectations for the money you pay. Primarily, it is a laptop for internet browsing, video watching, and streaming. It is far superior to the old classic MacBook Air and can only be compared to the MacBook Air M1. It is NOT suitable for those who want high performance and reliability in demanding programs. It is better to look at options above 2,500 euros. The battery life is very good and it is very lightweight.

I have had it for about a month, the use I make of it is for work purposes such as Mysql, R, Tableau, spreadsheets. And of course, in my free time, I use it for browsing, streaming, watching movies, and social media. It doesn't lag anywhere

I think the comments are unnecessary. It is perfect for coding on the go and remote working.
