After 8 years with a MacBook Pro, I decided to switch to something newer. Due to cost reasons, I went with the Air, but after the encouragement of friends, I purchased a BTO with 16GB of RAM. The machine is incredibly fast, boots up in seconds, and doesn't lag in any office applications or with multiple open tabs. Soon, I will test it for video editing and share my impressions. So far, I haven't encountered any issues with temperatures, but my tasks and ambient temperatures haven't pushed the machine to its limits. However, in normal use, there is no problem. The battery life is UNBELIEVABLE, I didn't expect to charge the laptop every 3-4 days (even up to a week), I truly have no words. To put it in perspective, you can easily watch 3-4 streaming movies before needing to charge. The screen is nice, slightly better than the old model I had but inferior to the current pro models (e.g. miniled). The keyboard is silent, and personally, I find it convenient for long hours of typing. I got it in the midnight color, which is impressive, but fingerprints and stains are noticeable. Finally, after about 2.5 months, I haven't experienced any issues with the coating, as mentioned on some websites, but I am careful with its transportation and haven't bumped it to cause scratches. If you're not a careful person and a mark would bother you, choose a different color.
Conclusion: The laptop doesn't lack anything, it has performance, battery life, a good screen, and keyboard. BUT its price is quite high, like all Apple products. There is also the M1 model at a better price with minor differences mainly in design.
I have had it for about 3 months now and it is truly the best laptop I have ever had! Very fast, lightweight, and it handles every "challenge" you throw at it. I mainly got it for graphic design and it has never disappointed me. Only in cases of 3D and more demanding tasks, it may lag a bit, as the lack of fans causes it to overheat and slow down. But with a fan base, I believe it will solve the problem. Personally, it doesn't bother me at all as it covers most of my needs and these more demanding tasks are rare, making the purchase of a MacBook Pro unnecessary and excessive. Anyone interested in graphic design, this laptop will truly be a game-changer for them. However, if someone needs it more for 3D, rendering, and editing large 4K files, it's better to go for a Pro. As I carry it in my bag, I don't feel anything because it is so lightweight and thin, which is a very positive thing. I will come back later if there is anything else I need to add (Model with 16GB RAM and 256 storage).
Battery life with internet usage and anything else a regular person can do when browsing is about 16 to 15 hours. Very nice design, user-friendly keyboard, and the camera now takes up a small space on the screen, hence the extra 0.3 inches of screen. The version with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD is a very commendable choice at 1700 euros. It has been said that the MacBook Air with the M1 processor had faster data transfer on the SSD. My friend has the M1, so I will compare and respond. In high-resolution 4K videos, you feel it heating up in the center. Very good screen, nice sound from the speakers. Overall, it's an Apple product that meets the expectations for the money you pay. Primarily, it is a laptop for internet browsing, video watching, and streaming. It is far superior to the old classic MacBook Air and can only be compared to the MacBook Air M1. It is NOT suitable for those who want high performance and reliability in demanding programs. It is better to look at options above 2,500 euros. The battery life is very good and it is very lightweight.
I have had it for about a month, the use I make of it is for work purposes such as Mysql, R, Tableau, spreadsheets. And of course, in my free time, I use it for browsing, streaming, watching movies, and social media. It doesn't lag anywhere
I think the comments are unnecessary. It is perfect for coding on the go and remote working.
