Description

The main objective of the book "Signals and Systems of Continuous and Discrete Time" is to present the fundamental concepts related to the thematic field. This presentation follows a purely educational approach, so that students in higher education to whom the textbook is addressed can acquire through their study the basic knowledge and skills required for their specialization in more advanced issues, such as telecommunications and automatic control systems. The detailed presentation of the theory is accompanied by hundreds of exemplary solved and unsolved exercises, so that the reader can delve directly and easily into the material presented, as well as into the way it is used in practice.

Due to the mathematical complexity that characterizes this specific thematic field, understanding the material presented in the textbook requires knowledge of basic concepts from algebra and mathematical analysis, such as matrix theory, the concepts of partial derivative and integral, as well as differential equations and difference equations for continuous and discrete variables, respectively. Special emphasis should also be given to some techniques for computing inverse transformations, such as polynomial division, the expansion of an explicit function into partial fractions, and the computation of integrals in the complex plane using residue calculus. In order to help the reader familiarize themselves at least with the most basic of these concepts, an appendix of a mathematical introduction has been added at the end of the textbook, which describes the above concepts with a reasonable degree of detail.
