The dazzling Gabrielle Dolier, professionally known as Zizi, is the highest-paid luxury prostitute in the French capital. She drinks only expensive champagnes and has a vast clientele of powerful and wealthy men, some of whom want to marry her or make her their exclusive mistress. But she stubbornly refuses. Her past is dark, no one knows anything about her, although rumors suggest she has roots that trace back to the Palace of Versailles.

When young Antoine Fabrier, a poor working-class boy, enters her home as a client, she mocks him for his audacity to want to spend even a minute with her. He persists, and Zizi, impressed by the fire of his youth, agrees. From that moment, an unprecedented passion will sweep through her life like a whirlwind.
