What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?
Waterproofing in a tent shows us how much water the outer fabric can repel. It is measured in millimeters (mm) and refers to how many millimeters of a vertical column of water (and therefore pressure) a square centimeter of fabric can withstand without being penetrated by water. The higher the waterproof rating, the less breathable the fabric is, and therefore the warmer the tent. Common waterproof ratings range from 500mm to 10000mm. Theoretically, any fabric with a waterproof rating >1000mm is considered waterproof. For example, a summer tent may have a waterproof rating from 500 to 1500mm.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Firstly, I must mention that the tent is very warm to be used in the summer in any other place (e.g. beach or backyard) apart from the mountains, you can't stay inside it even at night...
As for the setup, it is very straight forward with the instructions and I didn't encounter any difficulty. The packed tent is a bit bulky and doesn't fit horizontally inside my Osprey Rook 50, so I had to put it vertically...
I will use it soon in the mountains and I will come back with my observations.
Quality!!! It will be tested in the winter and I will come back! The tent doesn't understand anything! Very warm and comfortable with plenty of storage space!
