Capitalism in the West seeks to summarize the main conclusions that have emerged during this particular period, from the perspective of the interests of the popular forces and in contrast to the interests of capital, the bourgeois governments, in Greece, in the EU and worldwide. 

The enormous consequences in the lives of the working-class and popular forces have brought and continue to bring to the forefront scientific, as well as ideological-political issues, around which a fierce struggle has developed, which concerns, among other things, the causes of the pandemic, the ways to deal with it, the responsibilities of governments and the "responsibilities" of the people, the situation in the public health system, the role of science and the "committees of experts", the protection of workers in the workplace, public health-prevention, the class character of the impacts on the health of the working class and the popular forces, the role of the private sector in health, the impacts on mental health, the limitations of democratic rights and popular freedoms. 

The texts of the publication are a "summary" of a two-year systematic monitoring of the developments of the pandemic, which was assigned to the Health-Provision Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, with the direct assistance and guidance of the Political Bureau.
