If you choose a large umbrella that doesn't fit in your car... it's not the umbrella's fault. If you choose a large umbrella (meaning high wind resistance) and it breaks while you have it tilted in the wind... it's not the umbrella's fault. We call them something in my village. I bought it, not even two kilos, I place it as stable as possible, I have it horizontally with a slight tilt from where the wind comes and it is amazing, soundless and very shady. The best there is.
Very good umbrella. Reading the comments, I added a reinforcement where it hurts as other users mention. So the good became even better even in strong winds.
Unacceptable!!!! The umbrella broke in half at the metal joint with just a 4 Beaufort wind!!!
We simply wasted our money, I must mention that it was only the fourth time we used it...
The best umbrella by far! It lasted me 7 years! Great resistance to the wind! While all the others were being taken by the wind and "turned around"... we were calm! With a good gust... no normal breeze can move it
By far the best umbrella I have ever bought. It provides real shade, its construction is very sturdy and I have already tested it in a windy day and it didn't even move. It's worth every penny you spend on it 100%!
The umbrella provides good shade, it is beautiful and looks of good quality. On the first day, with three ropes, it folded inside out, half of it and one spoke made cracking sounds as if it was breaking. Fortunately, it did not break. It was repaired with fabric tape from an art supply store and everything is fine. The next day, again with sudden gusts of wind and with five ropes, it held up just fine. So, from the beginning, put five ropes if you do not want to have problems and want it to hold up for you. Combined with a sturdy pole.
Very good shading, easy to set up, one needs to purchase a metal base because it is heavy and has a large diameter which makes it unstable when it is windy. With a base, it is very stable.
Purchased in July '24, from a well-known supermarket chain for 38€ with a discount. On the first use, it had a great performance that was worth the money. No defects or issues.
The umbrella provides very good shade, and its size (2.2m) is fantastic for 2 people.
Before I bought it, I had the classic smaller Maui (1.9m) which lasted for 7 years, it didn't break at all. At some point, it got cut and I changed a wire on the ribs, but then the tilting mechanism broke and couldn't be repaired, so I threw it away and switched to this one.
Unfortunately, this one didn't even last 2 seasons, as on a day with little wind, a sudden gust broke it and it snapped in half at the tilting point. The wind caught it and threw it far away on the beach. Besides that, by pure luck, no one got tangled in it.
Now I ordered and received the blue Maui, which is 10 euros more expensive, with a one-piece pole without a tilting mechanism since it seems that the tilting is their weak point.
Unacceptable and dangerous for an umbrella to break in half and fly into the crowd, the company should compensate and refund the purchase.
I really wouldn't recommend it, but for those who already have it, I would always advise to tie it with a string regardless of whether it's windy or not.
It seems to be of good quality (not crazy about it) and I believe it will last
Frame and fabric are ok and indeed the shade it creates is good and sufficient for 2-3 people (xl model) seems to block UV radiation
In moderate to no wind so far, together with a stake, I had no issues, when and if I use it in strong wind I will come back
The negative and what disappointed me is that as soon as I opened it, it smelled like a stable ... really .... I don't know if it's a store or manufacturer issue.
It smelled like a stable and still smells of course not as much as at the beginning and on the beach you couldn't tell but when I opened it at home to check it out, I had a feeling of nausea from the stench.
I thought about sending it back to exchange it but one, I needed it for the weekend immediately because the previous one gave up and secondly you don't know if the replacement will have the same issue so I kept it hoping it will stop smelling with use and exposure to air
Wonderful beach umbrella, sturdy construction, perfect size and absolute sun protection. For so many years we have used many, this one is something else.
5 stars from me and 5 from my wife make 10. This is our rating.
very good umbrella... it creates a large shade due to its 2.2 opening... sturdy... with the expensive handle it doesn't go anywhere even when it's windy... however, it would be good for 100% certainty to tie it with pegs for greater safety...
Top umbrella! Don't think about it twice. Its shade has nothing to do with the ordinary ones. You can feel a noticeable difference. The first time I didn't get burned at the beach. I don't know about the pole, I replaced it with a sturdy one that I bought separately, to withstand the wind. It's amazing, with a little breeze you feel cool while the place outside is scorching. Just be careful, when it's windy, don't put it on full extension. It might flip and I don't know if it will withstand the stress. High-quality materials. I recommend it!
(Review after one year (summer) of use)
Positives:
Provides good shade, definitely for 2 people, even when the sun is directly overhead.
The fabric absorbs (reflects? Can someone explain this to us?) a large percentage of the radiation.
The frame, pole, and ribs are sturdy.
Negatives:
*The user needs to purchase an additional and necessary support base, as it cannot withstand wind.
During the first use :(, it was caught by the wind, landed on some rocks, and the threads were cut at one point, where the fabric connects to the ribs.
For €40, which is what I bought it for, it is a good choice.
Generally, it requires attention with the wind no matter what umbrella you use. This one is fine for its size and price, however, I always tied it very well (in three points with ropes and with a pole that costs as much, not its own which is a bit useless). One time I didn't tie it well and it flipped upside down, I thought it was completely broken and I was left without an umbrella halfway through my vacation, but in the end, only a wire had broken and all the plastic locks were intact, so I managed to fix it. However, it definitely doesn't mean that you will forget that there is wind and that it won't fly away and hit someone, it requires attention!
What can you say when you have this umbrella set up, combined with a sturdy pole, and a tourist comes to tell you that you have the best beach umbrella? It doesn't move at all with the wind. I recommend it
I think it is the must-have umbrella from every perspective. Impeccable stability, especially in combination with the shock-resistant pole, it really doesn't budge even in a hurricane. In a really strong wind, it turned upwards (since it couldn't come out of the sand) without suffering any damage. We calmly turned it back to its position and since then it continues to work exceptionally well as before. As for the size, it is very good, it is enough for us as a couple with one child and we even have some extra space. But the most important thing is the quality of the shade. Initially, under the umbrella, you really feel refreshed even in scorching heat. And secondly, you are protected from radiation, even more important for children. For me, it is not just a product that I recommend, it is a product that everyone should have, firstly for our safety and secondly for our comfort. The only thing I could notice as a negative is that its case is not the most comfortable to carry for long distances. The strap is thin and it cuts into you, but again it could have not had a case like others, so I won't complain about that. Highly recommended.
The only umbrella that truly provides shade and coolness from underneath. The only downside is the pressure lever to fasten and stabilize it, as it is made of plastic and requires caution. It is excellent and large enough to use with a sunbed underneath.
Good product. Especially if you find it for under €40. Also very lightweight and quite large. Personally, I hate heavy umbrellas that everyone puts up and bangs on the beach. I prefer 3 simple plastic beach mats and it never flies away.
I have three M&S but this review is for the 2.2m, which seemed to have a not so sturdy construction but so far it had held up relatively well (1-2 seams had loosened and one had torn but OK, expected after 3 years of use). Unfortunately, today, in a relatively gentle gust of wind, it broke!! in two at the point of inclination, resulting in a minor injury to me. It has moderate durability with a relatively reasonable cost, definitely needs to be secured with any wind.
I had the small one and recently ordered the larger one with a diameter of 2.20. I am very satisfied, it withstands the wind and provides a good shade. It seems to be very well constructed, just like the smaller one I have, and they both hold up well
Indeed, the mechanism has an issue and it is possible that after use in the air it may break or loosen. I have a hammer handle, so I have cut the handle of the packaging and use it as reinforcement when there is a lot of air. Alternatively, if you don't want to cut it, you can buy a hammer with a diameter that fits the handle of the packaging.
The use of it was done for many days and in conditions of strong wind. With the proper tilt, I had no problem. If you also get pegs, then you definitely won't have the slightest problem. We sat for many hours from 13:00 until evening and its shade was perfect. It cuts the sun very well. Whoever is considering it should buy it
Sturdy umbrella of high quality construction. Good materials that I believe will withstand the test of time. Lightweight and, combined with the carrying case, make it ideal for carrying. The shade it provides is excellent. It is collapsible, so it can be used even in strong sunlight. The anchoring pole is not the most stable, but there are accessories that stabilize it well. Of course, with the 2.20m size I have, I did not encounter any particular problem in strong wind, but considering that it is a large umbrella in diameter, it definitely takes a hit in terms of stability.
It can withstand up to 4 Beaufort, but with a slightly stronger wind, the handle broke at the point where the mechanism for tilting is located. The handle remained on the ground and the wind took the umbrella, fortunately it was held by the rope that was tied to it and we avoided the worst. It hurts in that spot
