Although usually 2mm mechanical pencils, or "Lead Holders" as they are correctly categorized abroad, are usually designed for Technical drawing (the so-called "Drafting pencils"), this particular one differs in design from them, having the design of a classic hexagonal pencil, which is known to be a versatile design, more suited for writing. Therefore, this one does not perform as well in drawing and is not as comfortable for such use, like one of the most well-known ones, for example, the TK 9400/TK4600 by Faber Castell, which are purely drawing pencils and not for writing. Its construction is much cheaper, even compared to other mechanical pencils by the Koh-I-Noor company, such as the 5340, which has much better overall quality in terms of construction and every detail.

For this reason, I would not recommend trying to remove the annoyingly sharp clip, as it will scratch the pencil's paint and it will look very ugly, losing its main advantage, which is its beauty! I would recommend it as a pencil for everyday use, that you can have with you everywhere, as it writes relatively well and it also has a sharpener on the top (a button, unscrew it and hold it steady, carefully sharpening the tip inside).

Also, I would recommend using Faber Castell graphite in it, whichever suits your taste, from HB to 3B hardness. It will elevate its level, because one of the most important parts of a pencil is the graphite, meaning its quality and performance. NO, not all graphites are the same, they differ very much in many aspects. Such as resistance to breaking, writing quality (more beautiful letters), more accurate gradation of hardness (very important for designers) and many other things.

If you want a pencil for drawing, I would recommend the pencils by Faber Castell that I mentioned, which are by far the best in the market in terms of quality and performance.

Rotring pencils do not have the quality they used to have and generally lack precision, comfort, etc. They are overrated pencils and highly overpriced. If you want the best mechanical pencils in the world, from 0.3mm to 2mm or even 5.6mm, these are the following:

Pentel Kerry (0.5mm/0.7mm) is by far the best writing pencil in the world. At the same time, it is also the perfect EDC (everyday carry) pencil, meaning that you can always have it with you everywhere.

For drawing: Pentel Graphgear 500 (0.3mm/0.5mm), Faber Castell TK 4600/TK9400.

And for a cheap and good one, which does it all and is cost-effective, the famous and legendary Pentel P205!!! These are the best in the world.

For classic sketching on A3 paper and generally not on small papers, the 5.6mm models by Kaweco, Koh-I-Noor, or Cretacolor are all top-notch but also very different from each other, so choose the one that you believe will meet your needs!
