Through a series of secret agreements, the great German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and the Austrian physician Josef Breuer, one of the fathers of psychoanalysis, meet in 19th century Vienna in an inspired process of dual psychotherapy. In this adventure of existential search, two unique individuals are involved: a young doctor named Sigmund Freud, a tempestuous woman who is an idol of poets and psychiatrists, Lou Salome, and a seductive patient, Anna O., who haunts the doctor's soul.
The famous psychiatrist Irvin D. Yalom invents in this novel the meeting of two historical figures in the intellectual ferment of 19th century Vienna, giving an interpretive account of the birth of psychotherapy and its relationship with existential philosophy. The therapeutic adventure that unfolds takes your breath away as it reveals step by step the healing power of true connection.
"The new anniversary edition, on the occasion of ten years since the book's first release in Greece, includes an afterword with two recently discovered letters and a commentary by Irvin Yalom, where it is proven that the fictional meeting of Nietzsche, Breuer, and Freud could indeed have taken place and where reality comes to confirm the fiction."

Very nice book that is worth having in your library. The author's description takes you inside the book and transports you to that time period.
A masterpiece by Yalom, an author who never ceases to surprise us with his vivid description and charming characters. Perhaps only Nietzsche's portrayal made him slightly more "sensitive" than in reality. A book that everyone should have read, about a personality that indelibly marked the course of human thought.
Fantastic book! It's worth reading!
