Description

"Jews, therefore. The people who paid with six million victims for the criminal and stupid fanaticism were the nightmares that frightened him. Was the incident in Tembi a variation of Eichmann's story in Argentina? Did the unknown sailing boat, which appeared on the Thessalian coasts, have Israel as its destination?

Now he believed it. What was Gonzalez seeking in Greece, knowing that his pursuers were after him? What had brought this Hamaratos and perhaps the others to the Tembi valley? Why had the little boy disappeared and why was Maria Glyno killed? Many questions that demanded answers. [...]

It was destined for this case to be not only a case of failures for police officer Beka, but also a case of surprises..."

A young charming woman arrives by train from Thessaloniki to Athens to find her twin brother. This is the beginning of an adventure where talkative adventurers and SS officers in Occupation wander in Greece of the 60s in search of a lost treasure: meeting place Athens - with its hotels and sights -, Volos, Tembi, Nafplio and Bourdzi, which functions as a hotel, the area of Stylida. Against them initially are journalist Makris, and then police officer Beka who collaborates with agents of the Israeli secret services, who try to locate, arrest and prosecute in their country the escaping war criminals.

It is perhaps the first Greek novel that puts at its core the tragedy of Greek Jews in the Occupation. It was published in installments in "Apogevmatini" in 1963 and then in the short-lived editions "Pergamini" in 1972.

Aggra Publications continue the publication of the "lost" novels of Giannis Mari, the "father of Greek detective novel", after the "13th Passenger" and the "Lady of the Night".
