In the southern foothills of the White Mountains, the anthropogeographic unit of Sfakia extends. The characteristic of this zone is the large and impressive gorges, with the most famous being the Samaria Gorge, as the locals call it. The road network is quite limited and there are still coastal settlements that are only accessible by sea. On the other hand, the network of trails is particularly rich and includes both short walks (such as those around the settlement of Loutro) and long and demanding ones (such as the one that connects Agia Roumeli with the village of Sfakia or the ascents to the high peaks of the White Mountains). The back side of the map includes a detailed guide for hikers with numbering and commentary on the trails, for which distance and elevation data are also provided. The map is laminated on both sides.
