Overall, it is a device that works as it should.
I have created an application:
http://alexander.agathos.net.gr/tapo.html
It allows you to see in real time the power you consume in all your Tapo sockets from your computer.
I have also installed a Geti power meter and they show approximately the same readings with a difference of +/- 3 Watts. So it is an accurate and affordable product.
When it's working, it's a very good product, statistics, connection with Google, everything.
The issue is that in 2 sockets, the on/off has broken. Even when the socket is closed, either from the switch or from the application, it still draws power normally. There are many reports about this on the TP-Link website.
You want a socket to be reliable and unfortunately, this one doesn't seem to be.
I have two of these.
As long as they work properly, they are excellent, hence the many good reviews here.
However, the bad news comes over time after use.
So, within 1 year, the on/off switch broke: It doesn't turn off, neither from the app nor if you press the button on it.
The exact same thing happened to the second one in the 2nd year.
Searching the internet about this issue, I found out that it is known and many people are facing it, so it is clearly a matter of poor build quality and reliability.
Therefore, anyone who wants to set a program on/off should avoid it because sooner or later it will break and they will have to buy another one.
The others who just want to browse the app for consumption can buy it without worry.
As a friend mentioned below, when it works, it is very good. Unfortunately, I will confirm that the on-off function breaks. That is, it passes current continuously whether it is on or off. I have 2 devices and both have broken twice, and I go and make replacements. The only positive is that it has a 3-year warranty. Now, as a device, it is really very good. It measures the current and turns devices on and off, either with a program or manually. This way, you have complete control over your devices. It is very helpful that you can also control it with your voice via your mobile phone. A very good device as long as it doesn't break down on me again.
Awesome little plug.
It does exactly what it says.
I have bought 6, didn't encounter any problem.
Buy without fear.
I got it for the air conditioner, to see how much it burns. And if I burn it correctly and I don't have it on low and it burns the air conditioner for free with the same results and more kilowatts.
Awesome machine for what it is intended for.
At 28 that I burn it, my old 9000 btu air conditioner burned 600 watts per hour because it reaches temperature. As consumption, the air conditioner burns 800 watts per hour. Very good
Simple and does what it promises. The mobile app also is nice and gives you power consumption history which is great!
Very useful, especially for seeing your usage in a socket, but also for forgetful people, to close sockets while you are away from home and you don't remember if you left something open!
So far, it's been great, connected easily and I haven't seen it lose connection. The app doesn't have anything great in settings, for example, I would like it to have some alert when I'm away from home and forget to turn off a device but I haven't found anything like that so far.
It does what it promises. It has been working for 6 months in an area with objectively poor WiFi coverage and has not experienced any disconnections. The routines are also executed systematically.
Very good. Connected directly to home assistant with TP-Link Tapo integration and works perfectly.
I have 3 and other products from the company.
It suits me very well for what I bought it for.
I don't have anything else to say, as the previous ones have already said it
It connects directly, has multiple measurements, and you input your kilowatt-hour rate and it shows you in euros how much you will pay based on the consumption of the devices you have connected!
Truly an excellent product that works flawlessly from the first minute I bought them until today. I have purchased 6 and I have been completely satisfied. It records the power consumption in real-time with a refresh rate of approximately one second. The application shows consumption by hour, day, week, month, and year! You can also input the price per kilowatt-hour in the application and it tells you how many euros each socket has consumed. The remote control is incredibly easy and almost instantaneous. The sockets also have a small relay inside that makes a quiet but distinctive sound when opening and closing. I recommend it to everyone who wants remote control and at the same time wants to monitor consumption.
The usage is very easy, you download the APP, sync it with your device and simply when you want to activate or deactivate the socket, you just make one on/off movement
In two or one in 2 minutes it turns off, latest firmware update and hard reset and deletion have been tried, it doesn't work at all, I suppose it's a faulty piece.
I bought it mainly to monitor the air conditioner's consumption. Easy installation and adjustment of the application. The use of the application is also easy. It instantly shows power and kWh consumption per day, month, and year. There are also kWh/time charts for each day. The socket's operation can be programmed for desired time periods. It seems to be a good quality socket and definitely worth its money.
Instant internet connection and with Alexa. They have good build quality. They work consistently, without any issues, since 1/1/2023.
After a long time, I decided to write my own comment. It was quite durable, it took several hits to break. But let's get to the point, it is 4 meters away from the router and from the first day it started having some interruptions, as you can understand, all the devices were disconnected. I thought it was okay, it happened once, until one interruption cost me a lot, so it took the wrong path. Be careful what you will connect to the socket
I have 2 P110 sockets for half a year now and they work flawlessly. All the positive things mentioned in the other reviews are true. However, I would like to add the following:
1.
As stated on the packaging (see attached photo), it is designed for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. It works perfectly on this, without any disconnections. (I have not tested it on a 5 GHz Wi-Fi).
2.
It really impresses me that generally switches, cables, power strips, extension cords, and other electrical items are being sold and mentioned for everything except for the power they can handle, before they "overload" with all the implications that come with it. I mention this because a basic difference between the P100 and P110 is the maximum Ampere that each socket can handle. The P100 can handle 10A compared to the P110 which can handle 16A. (see attached photo for the P110). Based on the above, I recommend getting the P110 instead of the P100.
I hope I helped.
Very good and the model of 100 and 110, the difference of the 110 from what I have seen is that it also measures consumption, of course not in detail, but otherwise it does the same job. The 100 scale is a bit cheaper, around 2-3 euros, while the 110 scale is around 10 euros. It is very good, I recommend it, I would buy it again, I have been using it for years. Note that the 100 scale does not measure consumption and can handle up to 10 amps or 2300 watts, while the 110 can handle up to 16 amps or 3680 watts
Very easy to program, it provides real-time consumption of the device it is connected to... perfect for the job you have in mind...
Excellent sockets and incredible application! Bravo to the company for both their product and their application. I already have 6 and they have been working flawlessly for 2 months.
Only for the high quality of the app that the company offers for device management, it is worth by far to prefer it over other companies.
I bought it solely for the schedule to open and close certain hidden lights in the house at specific times. It does its job perfectly and effortlessly on what I wanted it for! The quality of the materials is quite good.
The product photo shows max 10A, but the product is actually max 16A. My first tapo device, very easy installation and does exactly what I want. I can charge my phone at specific times during the night so it's not constantly connected to the power.
Just bought it from a department store for €12.90, connected it very easily and put it in the fridge. So far, everything is perfect. For the On Off that I want, it is excellent. However, I also see the consumption. If anything changes over time, I will come back.
It does exactly what it says! It has not disconnected once so far, and I think it's a good purchase
I use it daily in a 2000 watt air heater for 2 winters now. I haven't seen the slightest problem. It has never disconnected, it has never lost a command. It has a very convenient application where you can set a schedule and open/close it whenever you want.
I bought three and installed them for remote management of electrical devices. The devices work perfectly with very good wifi range without interruptions. The application is amazing!! Easy installation and with many possibilities in programming start and end times, as well as a very detailed presentation of energy consumption.
Very good socket, it works with home assistant through a 3rd party repo.
The only thing it lacks is the ability to see the overall consumption in the application, from all the sockets, as well as the option to open/close (e.g. 2 minutes on, 3 minutes off in a loop).
Both can be solved through home assistant if someone is willing to deal with it.
