Description

Emphasizing Greece, Elias Efthymiopoulos argues that for a while we should forget about spreads, the IMF, and the difficult everyday life of "supervision" and reconsider the causes of the crisis. The roots of the current Greek crisis lie in the choices of the past and the carefree 30-year period from 1980 to 2010, but mainly in the education of the people, the productive classes, the civil servants, the local government organizations, the cooperatives, the unions, and of course the party mechanisms based on the theory that Greece can only live on subsidies, loans, and a few (sometimes black) incomes from tourism. We should therefore tell the whole truth. Then, we should invent an alternative, sustainable, green economy. An economy, that is, of duration and perspective.

"Window to the Crisis" is a contribution (theoretical and practical) to the search for this perspective. Beyond the examination of the Greek crisis, the author extensively refers to international developments, the dominance of China in the markets, the third industrial revolution, and specifies his proposals in areas such as smart grids, counterbalancing banks, agricultural methods, etc.
