The Gender Studies Laboratory of the Department of Social Policy was established in 2006 to serve teaching and research needs in the fields of gender in social policy and the analysis of gender equality policies at international, European, national, and local levels. The identity of our Laboratory is strongly marked by social policy, the interest in the implementation of public policies, and consequently the interest in highlighting problems as they are depicted and experienced from the perspective of gender and the subjects themselves in gendered power relations. This study deals with an issue that has recently often shaken Greek society, namely the murder of women. Women who lose their lives not due to an accident, nor in a robbery, nor by mistake, nor due to a bad moment, but are murdered because they are women, because they are girls. This edition aims to contribute to the understanding, visibility, and addressing of the phenomenon of femicides, whose existence is rooted in the history of our patriarchal societies.
