Although it took longer than it should have, it is happy that this childhood dream has been realized, for the enjoyment of both the new and older generation
A good start with several issues. Having finished the game without catching only Arceus from the legendary ones (because you have to catch all the other Pokémon first), I believe I can express an opinion.
Positives:
- Open world Pokémon game with everything that entails.
- Very nice music.
- You see the Sinnoh region many years ago when they were starting to learn about Pokémon (if you check the maps, you will see they are the same).
- Very convenient mounts, especially the last two (the flying one makes everything much easier).
- I didn't encounter any bugs.
- Crafting system for Pokéballs and potions, etc.
Negatives:
- Mediocre graphics.
- The weirdest battle system I have encountered, opponent Pokémon are extremely slow, attacking three times before I can attack, the agile system seems to have no role, Pokémon 30 levels below me could defeat me with a neutral skill for no reason, and many other weird things. The roleplay goes out the window when it feels like they are playing with cheats. Either I would defeat a Pokémon in one hit or they would defeat me. There was no thrill.
- 2 very annoying battles - without spoiling - one with the noble is very annoying with a move that cannot be avoided, and one battle towards the end of the game is the most difficult in any Pokémon game, it is almost impossible and requires a lot of patience (and luck).
- Very few battles with trainers because they didn't exist back then.
- Weak story, uninteresting.
- Very empty world, maybe they should take ideas from Xenoblade, BOTW, etc. for the next one.
Recommended if you are a Pokémon fan and have always dreamed of a similar game, otherwise it is one of the most mediocre to bad Pokémon games I have played. Hopefully, in the next one, Nintendo's minds will move forward a bit because they are 10 years behind.

Having abstained from Pokemon games (with the last one being black 2), I was amazed by the gameplay! The philosophy in the game is exploration, collecting Pokemon, missions, and not battles like in the older stories. It took me 52 hours to complete the main story, and there is still a lot to do. I think that with the way the game is set up, you can constantly find new challenges. The levels of the Pokemon increase easily, but it doesn't seem to play a significant role since even with a level 85 Pokemon, you can still lose to a level 55 Pokemon, especially in cases where 2-3 attack you at once. Overall, I think it's a great story, it entertains you, and it's definitely worth the money. As for the negatives, I would mention the multiplayer and online Pokemon trading since you need a subscription to switch online (which probably isn't worth it).
Comparing it to previous 3DS games, it is definitely better, the open world gives it a different dimension. However, I can say that it is quite more difficult than others, at the beginning all the Pokémon feel like they do a lot of damage regardless of your level advantage, and it requires a lot of time and effort to progress through the story (which is also not something wow) to the point where you get tired of playing. In terms of graphics, colors, sounds, etc. there is no problem. For me, as a fan of the franchise, the game is wonderful and despite its negatives, I would definitely recommend it only to people who are not bothered by these small problems that I mentioned above
Guys, the game doesn't exist for me....The gameplay is incredible, you can spend hours on it and after you finish the storyline by completing missions and requests...I hope they continue the franchise in the same style...It's worth the money...I highly recommend it
It is something completely different from what you are used to from this series! Very interesting game, you can easily spend hours on it! I hope they further develop this idea without any glitches, like what happened with violet and scarlet, which is definitely my next game once they "fix" it...
By far the best new Pokemon game out there... unfortunately, the online aspect is still lacking even now, and it has a crafting system (bleh).
But it has quality of life changes that were necessary for the game (like being able to evolve without trades, ease in learning and forgetting moves, and much easier level up).
The world is enormous and you can play for hours even after finishing the story. It's a shame that scarlet/violet isn't equally as good...

I will agree with the positive reviews that I see below, there is nothing for me to say that has not been mentioned. A very good effort for something different (towards the positive) from what we have seen so far from the Pokemon franchise.
Excellent game with great graphics but the price is steep! Maybe if someone found it used, it would be worth it
It's worth its money for fans of the genre, it's something different like Pokemon Colosseum for the GameCube
Certainly it was not exactly what we all expected after all the hype, but it is still something completely different from all the other Pokemon games. I consider it a very beautiful game that can keep you entertained for many hours! Beautiful graphics (more serious than previous Pokemon games), addictive gameplay, more interactive battles, nice minimal sound, and overall I hope the next generations of Pokemon will follow this direction! On the negative side, it could have been more polished in some aspects. For example, the animations of the Pokemon flying in the air and being caught look completely fake and their movements seem to "stutter". Also, when you throw the pokeball into the water to catch a Pokemon, it moves in a completely fake way. Despite all this, I give it 5 stars because it was a very original idea that I hope will inspire the upcoming Scarlet/Violet games!
The story is very bad. It lacks trainers and badges. It has the same pattern constantly, making it a very boring game. I have been playing Pokémon for years, and it is by far the worst
Ok, look and see, the graphics are not what I expected from Nintendo and the world is very empty. The story is boring, but I like the open world and crafting. I would recommend getting it if you're interested in hunting shinies, otherwise wait until the next one comes out. (I've spent 80 hours in the game just to find shinies, otherwise I would have given up before even catching Arceus.)
Very nice game, few complaints such as the fact that the AI of the Pokémon in the world is simply dumb, they don't do anything, and that sometimes the world seems very empty. Apart from that, the game is incredible, I've spent almost 30 hours in 5 days playing it, it keeps you glued to the switch screen the whole time, you'll always be looking for something to do.
It is the Best Pokemon Cassette that has been released so far! Quite difficult compared to the others and several hours of gameplay even after completing the cassette, you have things to do!! Maybe I would like to have more Pokemon in the Pokédex!! It is something different from what we have seen so far in Nintendo Pokemon games, it is worth having it in your collection!
The best Pokemon game. I have no words to describe it. Flawless gameplay, open world, level up, you can see your favorite Pokemon live. I bought the Nintendo Switch just for this game. There is room for improvement in graphics and multiplayer, but those are minor details compared to the overall experience.
Well, having played the game quite a bit, I have formed a very good opinion. It introduces several changes that I consider significant:
1) Finally, you have the opportunity to catch a Pokémon through stealth, and you also see every Pokémon in front of you, either attacking you or running away from you.
2) There are no gyms and badges, but frenzied Pokémon that you essentially tame. I didn't mind it, but it wasn't my favorite aspect.
3) You have to farm various resources to make Pokéballs, revives, potions, etc., which is logical because it portrays a period without advanced technology.
4) Also, there aren't many battles with trainers because, simply put, there aren't many trainers. Your role in the game is to complete a Pokédex that resembles a botanical catalog. (As we said, it reflects the old days.)
5) An important change is that you can catch a Pokémon, but because it is essentially unknown to you, you have to study it for it to be considered "caught" in the Pokédex.
6) There are many secondary missions through which you catch Pokémon that you haven't caught before or help someone find something, etc. I quite liked this, as it adds a different dimension to the game and extends its duration.
7) The main story is interesting; you understand that something is happening, there is a mystery, so you gradually want to unlock the entire Hisui region and reach the end. It's "a bit" open-world, let's say.
8) A negative aspect for me is the graphics, which are washed out. Pokémon should have more vibrant colors, and the fact that there is no voice acting. I hope it will be added in a future game.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the game has left me with a nice feeling. I definitely want to open my OLED Switch and play. It's a game that changes the philosophy of Pokémon games quite a bit, and I hope that some of the elements introduced here will remain. I obviously recommend the game to everyone!
The best Pokemon game in my opinion brings a change to the series, something that was needed, it's something different and it achieves what it does very well.
The gameplay is the strong point of the game, very addictive and not repetitive, I would say one of the best gameplay experiences that the switch has to offer.
The story is also one of the best in the franchise, I would recommend going in spoiler free because it relies heavily on the questions it creates and mainly those drive the story forward and keep your interest.
The soundtrack is classic Pokemon value, although many are remixes from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, they are all very good with a few exceptions.
The graphics are the worst thing about this game, although an upgrade from the graphics of Sword and Shield, they are still terrible compared to other modern titles on the Switch, it's especially disappointing considering the money that Game Freak has and could have invested in the graphics.
Finally, unfortunately (or fortunately), this title is mainly single player and doesn't offer much in the multiplayer aspect, the only thing you can do is trades, online battling has been removed.
Coming from the blue in Game Boy and having played almost all versions, I will say that it is a pioneering in the field of Pokemon and a very good first approach to the open world game. Since I was little, I played Pokemon on the DS. Basically, it's the same recipe with different Pokemon and trainers. This one, however, has different playstyles like the strong/agile style, and it removed IVs and EVs, crafting, Pokedex, etc. It uses the Sinnoh Pokedex and there are some "ancestors" from the Sinnoh trainers. It's a very different experience but also risky for Game Freak. One downside is the graphics, low-quality rendering and repetitive textures. If you compare it to Sword/Shield or BOTW, it's a bit worse. It needed a bit more optimization, but when you play Pokemon, you don't really care about the graphics. And to be honest, it doesn't bother me much. I've played it for about 30 hours and I still enjoy it.
Very nice game, something completely different from the previous Pokemon games, its graphics are good with very nice gameplay and it seems that the game is very big. The only thing I would like is more Pokemon, but they might add more in future DLCs...
One of the worst Pokemon experiences I've ever had. The game has some good ideas like catching Pokemon in real time (sort of) and the Pokedex entries, but overall it's tragic. The boss battles are laughable, the battle system is equally laughable (one-shot everything, no reason to play with agile/strong style or defensive abilities), and the story is worse than what we're used to in the mainline games. I don't need to talk about the graphics and quality of this open world, everyone has already said it, even those who liked the game... Of course, it's not Game Freak's fault for this, but the world that nagged them to make a game based on this mediocrity called Breath of the Wild.
2 stars and let's go back to the old ones. We keep the third-person style along with the new animations, the rest is garbage.
Pokemon open World is what we always wanted. The graphics are not very nice, the truth is though that Pokemon never had good graphics and that is not the goal. The graphics of the Pokemon (monsters) are quite good. The music is wonderful, the gameplay would be improved if there was voice over. For me, it is worth it and shows that the next one will be even better!
As a Pokémon fan since the release of Color, there was no chance I wouldn't buy it to see the "greatest evolution" of the game so far.
The open world and the overall idea are very good, and of course, since we live in 2022, we want this evolution. However, in my opinion, the result is not as good as we expected.
I will talk a little about the negatives and what I didn't like.
- Graphics... The graphics are not good, especially in some moments when you are, for example, under a tree and looking from above, it looks very bad, but it's not to the point where you can't handle it.
- Sound... The sound and music are very good, but there is a lack of sound in the dialogues. In 2022, characters should have voices.
- Dialogues... We're talking about a lot of blah blah and meaningless conversations many times. Personally, it bored me a lot at some points, especially at the beginning of the game.
The tasks you have to do for the Pokédex are a very good idea, although I would have liked to level up and evolve the Pokémon instead of having some "silly" tasks, like catching a Pokémon 10 times.
The conclusion is that it is a very nice game that will definitely keep you engaged for many hours, but it still needs improvements.
A very "modern" Pokemon game. It abandons outdated techniques and adopts a fresh air and convenient mechanics.
It gives you a beautiful sense of exploring the world and you really want to collect and complete everything. It offers hundreds of hours of gameplay.
However, it also has its negatives such as bad graphics, lack of multiplayer, dead dialogues, and a poor story, lack of voice acting, which would really elevate it if they existed.
I hope the mainline Pokemon series continues like this
I had said it, it happened after many years of waiting, maybe we all expected an open world Pokemon like Zelda, but it was quite lukewarm and kind of a mediocre open world, I would say. What does beloved Nintendo do all these years? They just release games for the sake of releasing them. Out of the 10, only 2 are worth it, and even those need improvement. That's exactly what happened here, they released the Pokemon we wanted to see, but it's just mediocre, just like many others they released. It's average and that's it, Nintendo, you're exhausting us with these prices.
P.S. Finally, let the protagonists speak in the dialogues, we're tired of the mute and cartoonish graphics like in Phantom Hourglass with frying pan heads going around like the childish Noddy! Improve, we love you but you keep throwing the same things supposedly better here and for many years.
Pokemon Legends Arceus
A game that makes big changes and takes the Pokemon games in a different direction, you are in a village from where you go on expeditions to 5 other places on the map, just like in Monster Hunter Rise.
Positives
Overworld
The game has a nice overworld that reminds me of Pokemon Let's Go. You can see the Pokemon walking in front of you, including the shiny ones. There are also areas where many Pokemon appear together, perfect for shiny hunting.
Quests
There are plenty of quests to do, which makes the game very interesting. It gives you something to do in the post-game.
Battles
Battles have changed due to the game. They are nice and short, which suits the type of game.
Difficult
It is more difficult than some Pokemon games. I didn't expect it to be so challenging, but I was impressed that they finally increased the difficulty level. The battles with characters and wild Pokemon, especially the alphas, are difficult.
Story
I won't say much to avoid any important spoilers. I can't say it's amazing, but it's not bad either. It was just okay for me. It had its interesting parts, mystery, and suspense to see where it would go.
Gameplay
Very interesting. Now you have more control over the character. You can roll to dodge attacks from other Pokemon, crouch to avoid being seen, hide in the grass. The game requires some stealth in general. The system of throwing the ball to catch Pokemon is really nice. They have added new types of balls, some can be thrown from a distance, while others require you to get close, but they have a higher chance of success. It's nice that you have to be careful because many Pokemon will chase you if they see you. It no longer has the safe and relaxed gameplay of Let's Go. Another great element is how you use Pokemon to get berries from trees, break rocks, etc. Another feature is that you can change the moveset of your Pokemon, which is really awesome. You can customize it according to the Pokemon on each map.
Bosses
The Noble Pokemon have taken the place of gym leaders in this game. To progress in the game, you have to defeat them. For me, this is the most enjoyable and impressive part of the game. It adds a level of difficulty and freshness. It requires tactics to defeat them. I really enjoyed all the battles with the Noble Pokemon.
Sound
Very good with nice music. The sound quality is quite clear.
Negatives
Graphics
This is an area that Game Freak has neglected. They don't pay much attention to it. I would say it's bad, in my opinion. They need to improve and focus on it. We are in 2022, not in 2003 when it didn't matter to us at all. I won't say it was terrible. There was an improvement compared to Sword and Shield, but as a first-party and one of the main titles of Nintendo and the biggest franchise in the world, I expected something better.
Animations
Okay, here the game needs work, especially on the characters. They look like they were made by Alice (a very old 3D program). We've been seeing the same thing for years, so they need to put some effort into it. They have done some work on the game's moves, but it's not enough. It seems like they have copy-pasted everything. For example, you will see a character's reaction or a certain move repeated 50 times in the game. It's really behind in this aspect and needs to provide more variety.
Map
And here is perhaps the biggest downside of the game, the map. Apart from the fact that there are only 242 Pokémon in the game, so we can't say they included 600+ like in Sword Shield, it feels very empty for something that is not even open world. I can't say that I feel the satisfaction that should come from having such a vibrant, lively world. It feels lifeless, like a desert, for a time when there was no technology and big cities and houses, etc. It should have been filled with grass, flowers, trees, materials to collect, and many other things.
Game Freak has given us something we have been asking for years, but it still needs improvement.
I am a fan of Pokemon from Gameboy, the series 'changed the game in the best way, gameplay, graphics engine simply perfect story also very good, it took the series further with the best it could, I recommend it to everyone, even those who have not played the series.
