Description

"The Shock Doctrine" is one of the few books that help us understand the present, as it is the most comprehensive analysis of the covert history of our time. A fascinating description of the new world order, which is in a state of frenzy. Klein's analysis of disaster capitalism is attempted with perfectly refined rage, channeled through irrefutable data. In this groundbreaking alternative history of the most dominant ideology of our time, the free market economic revolution of Milton Friedman, Naomi Klein challenges the widespread myth that the global victory of the neoliberal movement was peaceful. She demonstrates that, from Chile in 1973 to today's Iraq, Friedman and his supporters repeatedly exploited violence and a series of terrifying shocks to impose their extreme policies.

She reveals the striking similarity between the CIA's interrogation techniques and the coercive techniques of the World Bank and the IMF in their efforts to impose disaster capitalism worldwide.

An excellent book, capable of causing a tsunami of shame - but also political action, to finally stop the shock therapy.

Powerful and truly shocking book. Comprehensive content, narration that flows at the right pace, and almost academically written with a plethora of reliable references (bibliography of about 100 pages)

"The 'Shock Doctrine' contains almost all logical fallacies that can be answered in the development of arguments: it perceives as given various things that are neither common knowledge nor proven or documented, nor does it happen within the book, it responds to the arguments of prominent economists (Nobel laureates) through direct personal attacks (ad hominem), it often resorts to false dilemmas, the fallacy of extremes, oversimplifications, and wishful thinking. Reading it, I conclude that its material and objectives surpass it, that it lacks the tools and background to accomplish the mission of this book.

Naomi Klein sees and hears selectively, ignoring the bigger picture, the reality of the world as a dynamic system, the complex relationships between causes and effects. And in order to reach the desired conclusions, she conducts interviews with anonymous sources, draws information from shady sources, and relies on rumors and suspicions.

The commercial success of the book is due to manipulative emotionalism (such as that of Michael Moore), to that kind of simplistic journalism of destruction that removes individual responsibility from people and then laments about how powerless they are in the face of power.

It can be read, at best, as a conspiracy novel and, at worst, as a rant."

Unique, exceptional book! A product of research, without myths and assumptions! A punch in the stomach of the IMF, the World Bank, and the theories of the Chicago School! I wish the oppressed people of the world and the world itself had the opportunity to read it in its entirety, then things would change!

One of the best books of all time. Level 1984, level of how Chomsky's world works
