Let me start by saying that I haven't played any Yakuza games before. Normally, I would give the game a rating of 4/5, but unfortunately towards the end, even if you don't run it but focus on secondary missions, you will need to constantly fight the same enemies to level up, as a specific opponent appears at a point crucial to the story about 20 levels above you. The same thing happens again towards the end and it bothered me as a player because just when the story has a smooth flow and even though I was already at a high level per area, the game throws in an unacceptable grind.

I had started Kiwami but I gave up because I didn't like the battle system. However, I know that as a story, it is perhaps one of the best games for PS5, but personally, the battle system of Like a Dragon was what kept me interested, and of course the protagonist who doesn't take anything seriously. I prefer such protagonists in games. As for the plot, you are Ichiban (which means number one in Japanese) and after a betrayal you suffered, you try to find out who framed you, what happened, and unravel a huge web of events that reaches great heights. There are easter eggs for those who are fans of the Yakuza games, but this particular title can be played easily without having dealt with any previous Yakuza games. It stands on its own. Besides the main story that will take you about 35-40 hours, there are also secondary missions that offer humor, sadness, and very unique situations. It is the kind of game that, with comedy combined with a serious story, allows for the existence of side quests that you can't find in other games, we're talking about a lot of laughter. It also has mini-games like shogi (Japanese chess), poker, gambling, pachinko (Japanese slot machines), and even Mario Kart, which they don't call it that due to copyright issues. The game has a turn-based battle system, meaning you choose the type of attack, hit, and then after your whole team takes a turn, the opponent does the same from the beginning until someone dies. It reminds me a lot of games like Persona 5 in terms of battle system and Dragon Quest. Personally, this is what made me like it more, but it bothered many who have come from the previous Yakuza games. So if you're not sure, rent it first and then proceed with the purchase. The graphics use the Dragon Engine, which provides impeccable details from sweat and resources on the protagonist's face to the movements of his face with precision. The story gets a 10 that will make you cry in the end. The sound is amazing, with intense battles playing pieces that give you chills, and finally, the missions along with the small games offer a package that gives you immense quality. You will spend about 60 hours if you see everything, or 30-40 hours if you only do the story, but you will enjoy it in your life. It will make you laugh, have a good time, especially if you're feeling down. But of course, because the game also has a main serious story, you won't just laugh. I hope this helps and that you have good purchases with good health. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

P.S.: The game offers classes like the classic Japanese JRPGs, but not the typical ones you encounter, you'll see for yourself. You can also equip your characters with weapons, armor, rings, etc., just like in all JRPGs. There is a romance system with characters and women you talk to at the bar.

This review is about the edition: Day Ichi

Tremendous laughter! Crazy missions, awesome soundtrack, and next-generation graphics.
The only complaint is that, although you generally don't get bored, it requires endless grinding towards the end.
You won't regret buying it, guaranteed!

Attention, it has a completely different combat system compared to the other Yakuza games, which is also much worse.
