For the past 10 years (almost), I have been exclusively using Samsung hard drives. Excellent drive... excellent speed... but it has an issue with temperature. Those of you who know how to monitor the drive's temperature, do it and see what I mean. It is not possible for it to reach temperatures of 76 oC+ during the transfer of large files (or Samsung Magician Benchmark) ... and all of this now with an almost ideal external temperature of 25 oC !!!
I use Samsung SSD disks.
This one didn't work. It might have been this specific series.
Top. Replaced a similar product from another company that claimed to have the same speeds as Samsung in its specifications but never reached them unlike this one.

Having purchased the 980 in March, what I noticed is a slight decrease in speed when transferring files to the SSD due to a change in temperature inside the case. I haven't loaded it with multimedia files, just Windows and games. When I needed to reinstall a game that I wanted to play again, after a clean install of Windows and changing the setup on my computer, I noticed that the write speed, which was consistently around 80-90MBps, was now stable at 71MBps with occasional spikes.
This doesn't bother me because after changing the motherboard and processor, the whole system now runs hotter, which was expected. Its exact position is below the processor and above the graphics card, surrounded by heat, whereas on the previous motherboard it was below and to the right in front of the intake fan of the case.
I mention this more for friends who may think that it's experiencing a performance drop, so they know what it might be based on.
The speeds are in Standard Mode and the temperature is 52C:

I bought it for desktop to run Windows 11 and some small files in general, it is fast, high-quality, and does the job correctly within 8 seconds, the PC has been turned on. In terms of speed, I have made file transfers and they are done in less than 8 minutes.
At around €30, I think the price is worth it for a disk with a 5-year warranty. I got the 500gb one and used it for booting Windows, and it's really excellent in terms of speed, pretty much as advertised. This is the third identical disk that I've purchased. Its software is complete for monitoring its health and for creating a clone of your disk again if you want.
He installed a 120GB internal SSD on his laptop (Asus) with an extension, it was attached and finally, it's not exactly 500GB but everything is okay.
Great value for money. I got it for the operating system and it's lightning fast!
The installation is simple, but keep in mind that by installing such a disk, some motherboards cancel 1-2 SATA slots. So if you can't find the other disks after installing the M.2, change the SATA position on the cables of those you can't see.
So far so good. I bought it as a backup since my main one is starting to slow down. Speed isn't a concern for me as I mainly use it for videos and games that take up space. Everything loads quickly and smoothly.
Fast and reliable in operation, perhaps a bit pricey but Samsung's storage options always have greater value and a better quality-price ratio over time.
The second Samsung hard drive I have is a 860 250GB for large Windows games that used to take me hours to load with the old mechanical hard drive, now they open instantly.
The 980 is perhaps the best value for money and top in terms of performance/reliability SSD on the market, and is a "mother" for hosting a user's operating system and programs.
The disk "clicked" onto a Gigabyte B360M DS3H, was recognized immediately and ran smoothly (without any changes to the BIOS). The programs that come with it are also very good (download Samsung Magician and Migration Tool). The migration from an HDD with about 500GB of content was done in less than an hour (and can be done directly from the operating system, just disconnect the PC from the internet to avoid any updates and close all running programs). The speeds are at the promised levels.
Selected for seamless operation in the name of hope. Time will tell, for now everything is as expected.
Very good at transferring large files due to its technology that uses memory from the system as cache. In my benchmarks, it delivered what it promised, perhaps a little more in writes.
I am sharing an image of the performance of the 1TB version. I am completely satisfied, it was recognized directly by the system (Asus Rog B350-F Motherboard) and I generally recommend it for its price.

Although this specific SSD does not have a DRAM Cache, it is truly amazing! Fast, reliable, and comes with a nice software (Samsung Magician) where you can see its temperature, how many reads/writes you have done on the disk, as well as its remaining life. For this price, I definitely recommend it without hesitation.
The evaluation concerns a capacity of 1T. So far, I have successfully installed Windows 10 and my games are running smoothly without any issues. The performance and temperature are excellent, with a temperature of 28c.
Switched from Samsung Evo 860 which failed me after 4 years. The performance of my setup has significantly improved. I mainly use it for the operating system and startup programs. At the price of €69 that I purchased it, I consider it a great value for money. The accompanying Samsung Magician software is impressive and the disk performed excellently in benchmarks, reaching 3300mb/s read and 3000mb/s write without any issues. It exceeds my expectations and if its performance deteriorates over time, we'll see. For now, it's the best disk I've ever had. I've had it for 9 months already. I should note that the disk operates at a constant temperature of 45-50 degrees due to its location right next to the graphics card slot and unfortunately, the system's airflow doesn't help much.
He is good. As for speed, I haven't benchmarked to see numbers and details, but I don't notice any difference compared to a good 240GB Kingston 2.5" SSD I have (that's why 4 stars). Maybe I've seen some improvement in file transfer and writing to external storage devices, but that's about it. If you're not into numbers, statistics, and graphs, you won't notice a difference from a good 2.5" SATA SSD. Overall, I have a good system with good specs, so I don't think it would make a big difference even if it were in an even better system...I don't know. That's it.
Having only had contact with SSDs in netcafes and on a third-generation SSD system, I was expecting to be blown away by their speed. While the difference between them and a 7200rpm HDD is certainly noticeable, it's not shockingly faster.
What really impressed me were the drivers Samsung has for mirroring other disks. They really saved me time since I didn't have the opportunity to format when I made the purchase.
For now, I'll give it a 4/5 and see how it performs over time.
A very good SSD even as a main drive in the system. The nominal speeds provided by Samsung apply to large files. In random access of smaller files, it starts to struggle - the lack of DRAM becomes marginally noticeable. But Samsung knows how to make disks, and for this price, it's simply exceptional. Its temperatures are a bit high, perhaps due to its proximity to the graphics card. Spend a few extra euros and buy the 970 Evo Plus or the WD Black if you want something slightly faster (the Black also has a nice heatspreader). However, the 980 is so fast that the differences are negligible in typical, everyday use.
On an MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus, it runs at 30-34 degrees and maxes out at 40c during gaming time. Although it doesn't have DRAM Cache, the performance is almost the same as what Samsung states. Out of 465gb, I now have 225 free. Read is at 3163 MB/s, slightly more than what Samsung states (3100 MB/s). Write is at 2184 MB/s, considerably less (normally 2600 MB/s) but understandable as it decreases as it fills up. A big difference from the Samsung 860 Evo SSD I have. And all games with long loading times now start lightning fast. I have no negatives, I can't have any when it's so cheap. In case of any problems, I will update, although I don't expect it from Samsung. That's all and happy shopping.

The speed was measured again and reached 3050MB/s Read - 2230MB/s Write.

I use it in a Lenovo Thinkbook 14 G2 ARE, installed as a second SSD. It worked immediately, everything was done quickly through the disk manager in Win10.
I haven't seen the speeds mentioned in Crystal Mark or Magician.
It has been updated with the latest firmware using Magician.
Only time will tell, the price is reasonable.
This particular SSD does not have a DRAM Cache, this choice was made by Samsung to cut down on the final price. However, the performance is very close to the advertised numbers, running at around 30°C with the MSI Z490-A PRO cooler.
Truly the best value for money.. in 10 seconds it will boot Windows and run any program or game like a charm.. file transfer? Not even a discussion.. much faster than a regular SSD.. buy it with closed eyes, you won't regret it.
