Description
In his new book, Melitis Meletopoulos deconstructs ethnomedism, theories of ethno-genesis, and the distortion of Greek history, proving that behind them lie biases, stereotypes, and theoretical confusion. He specifically mentions examples of academics, journalists, critics, etc., whom he responds to with strong evidence, scientific rigor, and constant reference to sources and international literature.
He then analyzes the attempt to construct nonexistent minorities, as well as the non-existent current of anti-Semitism in Greek society, and demystifies the ideology of multiculturalism. He also deals with the attempt to beautify the period of Turkish rule by certain academics, which inevitably leads to the blurring of defensive reflexes against Turkish expansion.
A significant part of the study is devoted to a comprehensive, internationally based critique of the Annan Plan, as well as a detailed, documented reference to the issue of the naming of Skopje.
In the chapter on the reality of Greek-Turkish relations, the long historical nature of the thousand-year Greek-Turkish conflict is presented, false perceptions about Turkey's accession to the European Union and its geopolitical and demographic consequences are refuted with arguments, and the chronology of violations of the Treaty of Lausanne from its signing in 1923 to the present day is presented. The history of Turkish claims and designs in Western Thrace and the related Turkish propaganda on the internet are also presented, as well as the unprecedented medieval regime of the mufti for a European state. Finally, the famous theory of Panagiotis Kondylis about the scenario of Greek-Turkish conflict is presented.
But the author does not adhere to the logic of the so-called ultra-patriots, whom he attributes provincial nationalism, third-world perceptions, fears and insecurities, incurable contradictions, ignorance of the international environment, and opportunistic initiatives on national issues.
In the last chapter, the unbreakable relationship between Patriotism and Democracy is highlighted, which dates back to the oath of ancient Athenian youths. The study is completed with an analysis of the concept of national consciousness.
