Diagnostic or Applied Pathological Anatomy is a combination of pathological entities and the macroscopic and histopathological characteristics of these entities that they cause and which have diagnostic value for the respective pathological entity.
In veterinary medicine, teaching and learning revolve around live animals, but in many cases necropsy can lead to a smart and scientific understanding of disease processes. Before studying lesions, a smooth and systematic necropsy should be performed with smooth technique. Such a process is briefly described in a chapter of this book.
Veterinarians often avoid performing necropsy because it requires a lot of time and effort, or because the collection by supply companies and the incineration of animals after necropsy is difficult. These personal factors are due to lack of familiarity with the effective necropsy process, organs, and the availability of simple and quick laboratory tests to confirm the diagnosis.
Necropsies are opportunities for continuous education offered to veterinarians in their own practices and can rarely be reproduced elsewhere. This type of continuing education is lifelong.
